The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I found one this weekend. Little Red Belly, about the size of a #2 pencil. I always move them to safe spaces when I find them. Put him under the wooden steps next to some bushes.

Had one a few years ago that loved curling up under the pool pump motor. Moved him to service the pump, and he headed right back. Had to move him a half dozen times before he got the hint. I put him back when I was done.

Fortunately we don't have any dangerous snakes here. If you see one, you can pick it up. I'm always moving them to safety, away from the mower and out of the driveway. They eat shit I don't want around, so we're on the same team. 😂
Absolutely. I just missed a snake yesterday mowing. Glad he got away.

I’m always mowing around ferns, frogs, bees and other good guys.

Few years ago we had a giant rat snake in our pool shed where the filter and motor are.

We were driving the other day in traffic on a back highway and ran over a black racer, one of the longest ones I've seen. I felt horrible about it, but it was unavoidable at our speed and with traffic. Black racers are one of my favorites. 😞😞

I will live with them...but not biting me or killing me or sneaking up on me in the dark.... same rules for spiders and ghosts

The landlady was repairing a gate one day last week. It was falling apart and she decided that it didn't need to do gate things any more so she made it into part of the fence. She observed while she was working that a snake was watching her do it. She said it stayed there for several minutes and managed the job.

Who knew?

Then again, this is the same woman who was working on the fence in the back past the pasture in the woods down toward the creek and something feline growled at her. She responded, "how dare you growl at me in my own yard?"

It left silently.
She is awesome.....

She is the animal whisperer.... I wonder what it was..bobcat?

It was a little nasty, but I remember Captain JJ telling me about riding out a hurricane on a tug (tied to the dock) which after it was over, the deck was covered with marsh grass and water moccasins... that would creep me the F'k OUT!
I am ok w most snakes. When I was a kid I thought we had water moccasins here in NJ but it’s an urban (rural) myth. There are water snakes but they are not poisonous.

We do have northern copperheads and timber rattlesnakes here. I’ve seen a copperhead once.

We got plenty of good guys snakes tho: rat snakes and milk snakes and black racers I think.
