I was monitoring local web cams, and some of the views were completely blocked out! It was like a thick morning fog all day long. I've seen some smoke here before, but nothing like yesterday. Much better today, although the AQI number is still around 170.This was the smoke from the fires in 2023. I never experienced smoke like this. It was a perfectly cloudless day, it was just orange and eerie.
I have NO biorhythms left... I made it to bed at 04:30 but was up at 09:00.I was a member of the 3:19 AM club. But I actually did fall asleep again from 5 to 6.
Off to meetings in a little bit and then a long drive home.
I’m gonna have the missus start the charcoal chimney about 20 minutes before I get home and I’ve been marinating some pork chops since the weekend!
And maybe jump in the pool!
Thanks for giving me "morning wood" dammit!Owner Ready To Ditch This 1970 Road Runner, Guess the Price Before Reading

Plymouth had the time of its life in 1970, with sales going through the roof and propelling the company to the third place in the United States. To put this in perspective, it was Plymouth's best year since 1959, so the company had every reason to be happy about its product portfolio.
You understand, of course, that I am a man of honour and could not possibly reveal my sources. On the other hand, is it true that everyone has a price?![]()
Uh-oh. *checks notes* Hmm, were we supposed to keep this from you?I was blissfully unaware of this until I read your post. Fingers crossed that this resolves itself quickly for you and others affected by it!
Hopefully it's something fun. Be well, take care... we'll keep the light on for you.OMG, guys and Gals.... my apologies for my absence and lack of responses...
I've been "sidetracked" and probably will be for a few more days/ weeks....
Please DON'T let that effect the love and respect I have for y'all!!!!
I double mask for so many triggers. Carried some extra disposable filters for the mask pocket today, too. I like to breathe.3 am and old dog has to go out, sinuses bothering me as well as the back. As I am doing a taxi run today, I probably will stay up.
Have a good day and wear a particulate filter mask if in the area of smoke. Protect your lungs.
no... NO... AURRRGH! earwig... EARWIG!!!Yep! I come from a land down under
Thank you for your thoughts and concern. Yes, I recall that year when the Western US, most of Canada, and almost all of Australia were all burning concurrently. Hope this year is easier for all AussiesJust. Caught up, I feel for those struggling with smoke from the fires having a fair bit of experience with that here Smoke is unpleasant, and really bad to breathe in, though its a lot better than fire, i hope you are all safe,
New slag for the lexicon just droppedOr maybe being sidetracked is a euphemism for something….
I'm sure we'd see you rescuing cats for little old ladies, right?Thank you sir!

Congratulations to you both!!Well, 31 yrs ago today, I walked the plank…er…the Isle. Going to make breakfast for SWhoMBO, cut some flowers…OK, buy some flowers.
If this is the "new normal", I will need to move... like to Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard (Norway). I'll need a winning lottery ticket first, but I'm sure that's possible, right? This was the smoke from the fires in 2023. I never experienced smoke like this. Same - can't really see it but can feel it in my sinusesMuch better today, although the AQI number is still around 170.
Same... OM coffee and real coffee.Morning all avoid the smoke I’m missing my morning OM caffeinating therapy![]()
Rx: Nap... reapply liberally, as neededI have NO biorhythms left... I made it to bed at 04:30 but was up at 09:00.
Thanks for the laughThanks for giving me "morning wood" dammit!![]()
Maybe don't tell her this joke...
What am I doing on MY day? You ask?Maybe don't tell her this joke...![]()
So, what you're saying is that in 31 years you haven't learned to make a dinner reservation and tell SWhoMBO that the reservation is 90 minutes earlier than reality? What am I doing on MY day? You ask?
Waiting patiently on SWhoMBO…to get her mess ready so we can go eat. Now in all fairness she called around looking for reservations for a place that has soft shell crabs…well…this ain’t Maryland, so no dice. So now, she’s posting pics from the wedding, time is ticking away…everything closes at 9pm…EDT…
Now I’m watching as Ms OCD is running around the back yard putting away things that couldn’t wait till tomorrow
Time is ticking away…

That looks real bad, were there embers falling from the sky? This was the smoke from the fires in 2023. I never experienced smoke like this. It was a perfectly cloudless day, it was just orange and eerie.
@Wonderer67 feel free to chime in here...That looks real bad, were there embers falling from the sky?
I remember embers from the us western fires falling in Minneapolis in the 1990s, but not any since. That was really weird.@Wonderer67 feel free to chime in here...
He's East Coast and I'm Midwest, but I don't recall talk of embers in 2023 or with the current fires.
Here's what the web has to say:
