'It's time to get violent': Far-right extremists are promising more violence after Capitol siege

When both branches of Congress met during a joint session on Wednesday to certify President-elect Joe Biden's Electoral College victory, many journalists, law enforcement officials and national security experts feared that violence would occur in the streets of Washington, D.C. But it came as a major shock when a violent mob of pro-Trump extremists stormed the U.S. Capitol, a disturbing series of events recounted by reporters Andrew Egger and Audrey Fahlberg in an article published by The Dispatch the following day.

On January 6, President Donald Trump and his allies — including Donald Trump, Jr., Eric Trump, Kimberly Guilfoyle (Trump, Jr.'s girlfriend and the ex-wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom) and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani — spoke at a demonstration on the National Mall. They called their event the "Save America March," and Trump, Sr. continued to promote his debunked claims that widespread voter fraud occurred during the 2020 presidential election. Extremists who showed up in support of Trump included the Proud Boys, militia members, neo-Confederates and supporters of the conspiracy cult QAnon.

"The people most determined to start a riot at the Capitol were the ones who were there first," Egger and Fahlberg explain. "As Trump's speech dragged on, first a trickle, then a stream of rally-goers peeled off and started to march down the Mall. But by the time the first of them arrived, the mayhem was already underway. Protesters who had forgone the speech had pushed through a series of police barriers onto the lawn and had even scaled a tall scaffold near the steps of the Capitol itself."

US President-elect Joe Biden welcomed Donald Trump's announcement on Friday that he won't attend the January 20 inauguration, calling it a "good thing."

"I was told on the way over here that he indicated he wasn't going to show up at the inauguration," Biden told reporters in Wilmington, Delaware.

"One of the few things he and I have ever agreed on," Biden said. "It's a good thing, him not showing up."

Republicans are now begging Democrats to not impeach Trump ‘in the spirit of healing’

Republicans are arguing against holding Donald Trump account for the fatal insurrection he incited at the U.S. Capitol.

The request came in a letter signed by Representatives Ken Buck (R-CO), Thomas Massie (R-KY), Tom McClinton (R-CA), Nancy Mace (R-SC), Chip Roy (R-TX), Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), and Mike Gallagher (R-W).

The letter was addressed to President-elect Joe Biden.

"In the spirit of healing and fidelity to our Constitution, we ask that you formally request that Speaker Nancy Pelosi discontinue her efforts to impeach President Donald J. Trump a second time. A second impeachment, only days before President Trump will leave office, is as unnecessary as it is inflammatory," the Republicans argued.

President historian Michael Beschloss on Saturday explained that the U.S. Constitution has a provision to prevent people like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) from serving in office.

"And one more thing, if I might add to this, 14th Amendment of the Constitution says if you're a member of Congress -- senator or representative -- and you have aided an insurrection, you can't sit in Congress. As far as I'm concerned that may well define Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, others involved with this," he explained. "Congress is going to look very hard at these people and say, 'Are they allowed to continue in Congress under our Constitution?'"

'Kevin McCarthy must resign': House minority leader slammed for enabling Trump's 'most destructive acts'

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is being urged to step down for having "spread the very lies" that fueled the Wednesday attack on the U.S. Capitol and his repeated enabling of President Donald Trump's "worst and most destructive acts."

In a Friday statement, as the outlet noted, McCarthy acknowledged for the first that President-elect Joe Biden will assume office this month.

"As a nation I know we sit back and we're appalled by what we're seeing," McCarthy told ABC News Wednesday, "but I want everybody to take a deep breath and understand we all have some responsibility here."

Missy, I'd never attack you for disagreeing with me. But you misunderstand my words.

Orange Foolious is not about race, it is about artificial adoption of manliness. He wants to be seen as more manly, hence the spray tan. He doesn't even blend it in to the hair line which emphasizes the true meaning of vanity over good sense.

Trump Virus, is about his adoption of COVID-19 as a way to fuck with the Blue States which had the worst end of the deal early on. New York and New Jersey are still high on the list of Most Deaths because it took some time to get a handle on treatments. I think it was Jared's fault that he took this path, as it looked like early on that wouldn't effect the Red States so bad.

My own State of California is now leading the Nation in COVID-19 Deaths, due to the southern six counties (Redest of all) following the Fool in his anti-masking. However Texas and Florida are soon catching up as their Governors follow the Fool off the cliff.

Jim Jordan seeks 'unity' after trying to overturn election: Impeachment is 'not healthy for the nation'

After trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Sunday argued that impeaching President Donald Trump for inciting a riot is "not healthy for the nation."

Jordan, who had officially objected to the results of the Electoral College, repeatedly insisted during a Fox News interview that now is the time to unify the country.

"What happened [with the riot] Wednesday is wrong, it's as wrong as wrong can be," Jordan said. "But I hope the Democrats don't go down this road [with impeachment], we don't know they're going to. Let's hope that they do not do that."

"Now the Democrats are going to try to remove the president from office just seven days before he's set to leave anyway," he continued. "I do not see how that unifies the country."

FBI and NYPD warned DC Capitol Police about violence planned for Jan. 6 -- but were ignored: NBC News

The Capitol Police were warned that something big was coming for the Jan. 6 event for President Donald Trump, but they ignored those warnings, NBC News explained.

The report explained that the FBI and NYPD were hearing about threats ahead of Trump's "stop the steal" rally ahead of the Electoral College count. "The FBI even visited more than a dozen extremists already under investigation to urge them not to travel to Washington," senior law enforcement officials said.

Newsweek reported last week that officials from the FBI, the Secret Service, Homeland Security, the District of Columbia government, the Pentagon, the National Guard, and the Joint Task Force–National Capital Region all knew what was coming from the Trump supporters. Somehow, however, the Capitol Police missed the memo.

There is no oversight for the Capitol Police except for Congress, which explains why the policing evolves to reflect the desires of elected members. Give the Capitol is a federal institution, the best course of action would probably be to put the Capitol Police under the oversight of the Secret Service or FBI.

Trump supporters plan 'armed protests' in all 50 states starting this weekend: FBI bulletin

Supporters of President Donald Trump are not backing down from their threats to carry out violence in the name of keeping the president in power.

An FBI bulletin obtained by ABC News reporter Aaron Katersky claims that "armed protests are being planned at all 50 state capitols from 16 January through at least 20 January, and at the US Capitol from 17 January through 20 January."

What's more, at least some of these protesters have vowed to employ violence if Trump is either impeached or removed via the 25th Amendment.

"They have warned that if Congress attempts to remove POTUS via the 25th Amendment a huge uprising will occur," the FBI bulletin states.
