The 2025 Geek Pride Story Event: Official Support Page

My Geek Day story got too big, over 20k words. Would anyone be willing to beta read it to help catch any glaring errors before I submit it?
If so, please send me your email address through the conversations link.
Thanks.
Too big? Let's swap I'll check yours, you check mine. Mine is only 128K šŸ˜„ (I get carried away sometimes)

Looks like Laurel is going to hold on to them for the published start date!!! I have never seen this in an author organize challenge, have you @ChloeTzang?

Pretty sure this is exactly what happened for last year’s Geek Pride as well.

SUBMITTED! Marathon editing this weekend, and there will probably still be mistakes, which will make some people happy and give them a reason to comment!

Thanks @ChloeTzang for keeping this event going, and to all for your encouragement simply through the comments you have shared with us. Looking forward to this coming Sunday!

Ah, woe is me 😭 - I definitely submitted mine wrong somehow, although I thought I'd taken care to follow the instructions. Ugh! So typical of me and my ADHD Swiss-cheese brain to mess something up and not even know how. :confused:It's so much more fun being part of the group, and not just because things seem to be much better received that way. This way my poor story is just off by itself, like a Kindergartner separated from the rest of the class on a trip to the city, getting trampled by people in business suits and shat on by pigeons. *sigh*

Actually it's more like a Kindergartner who got overeager, took a train to the city a week early, almost immediately got lost down a dark alley and is now getting peed on by occasional drunken, angry strangers. The few readers who do see it are probably enraged by the fact that I took so long to get to the sexy parts (another mea culpa, Penny did warn me, and I did try to heat it up faster, but then I thought, "Hey, it's Geek Pride! I can geek out more than usual!" which would be fun IF I was doing it alongside the rest of you).

I should have sent Laurel messages to make sure this didn't happen; oh well, lesson learned. šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

Hopefully it can still get added to the story list!

It really is a lovely story with some amazing ideas (and hot sex), so I hope we can get some more eyes on it šŸ˜

I haven't read it yet, but looking at the summary:

it would seem to me that the issue lies in the category. The blurb clearly suggests SF&F, because GS is for threesomes and orgies in mundane reality settings and without uncommon kinks.

Yes, I hope so too. 🄰 And regardless of how it’s received, I really got to grow as a writer in a way I never would have dared try without the insight and help you provided, so I’m still thrilled I got to participate! I just regret the accidental isolation, which is šŸ’Æ % on me.

I don’t know how multi-quote works yet šŸ˜– but Lobster’s comments šŸ¦ž make a lot of sense as to readers’ expectations; thank you for providing that perspective! šŸ’

Trading Cards just submitted. When last I looked it had been pending for 15 seconds.
23k, so the longest story I’ve written by far. I started working on it on April 14th and submitted it on May 19th. I clearly could not be a professional writer at that pace.
Thanks ChloeTzang!

After being on vacation most of last week and accomplishing absolutely nothing on my story, I made good progress over the weekend and last night so now I'm down to two short transition scenes and two love scenes. Parts have been edited and polished and parts are still quite rough, so my fingers are crossed that I can finish on time!

I also have an idea for an erotic sketch for the story, similar to the one I did for "After Duty Calls," but I'm not starting it until after the story is complete.

In other news, I was today years old when I found out that Literotica does story contests!

Love the idea of a Geek Pride themed event! It might be a bit of a scramble, but I'm going to try to submit something lol.

I always look forward to this challenge, but alas for the second consecutive year, I am coming up short. Oxford Orgiastics was about a third completed at this time last year, of course a brilliant story with an impressive conception/execution gap, only partially finished.

This year - after deep ruminations and furious development - it is still incomplete, maybe two thirds done, nowhere close enough to pull the trigger. Phooey. I am left with the lament of every major sports team who ever comes up short in their season of struggle:

'There's always next year...'

Anyway, best of luck to all, looking forward to some good reading on the 25th.

Finally done after lots more writing and editing, coming in at a respectable 10.1k words!

Thanks again to the organizers and everyone who left me a react to keep my motivation up. This was by far the most fun-to-write story to date; in the spirit of pride, it's deliberately over-the-top and unrepentantly geeky. excited for y'all to see it once it goes live!
