The 2019 Literotica Geek Pride Story Event: Official Support Thread

Chloe,

How many participants are you expecting for this event?

I'm considering submitting a bdsm story for this.

Honestly, I have no idea but more than a few. I’m doing a romantic tentacle one.

Maybe I missed something: do I have to "officially" enter the event and give you a tentative title? It sounds like you don't a have master list like the one for The One Night in XXX event.

Thanks!

The only reason for registering our stories in the One Night event was so that we weren't stepping on each others locations. That's not a concern with Geek Pride.

No, no official list but of course you can post the title here as an FYI if you want. It’s open entry, write anything that fits, any title and submit as per the first post.

The tentative title is Third Avenue Railroad #220. It's not science fiction but I suspect it will be geeky enough.

I went back to it last night after a month-long hiatus (it's relatively short) so I will make the deadline.

Mine's still oozing steadily out. By a geek, about a geek, for a geek. In SF.

I’m trying not to overegg the pudding.

I'm so very interested. I wasn't aware that this contest existed. I might write a little something

It's not actually a contest, but a writer's "event."

I might want to turn the story into a series after, so I might not enter it. But thanks for making the distinction "Not Wise"
But just to clarify, if I enter this event, can I add chapters afterwards?

Yes. But you can't submit a new chapter out of an existing series.

Done and dusted. I'm actually fairly happy with it, too. No title yet, but it'll come to me.

Throw hat into the ring

I plan to submit a story. The category will be Non-Human, unless. Two supporting characters are engaged in a consensual BDSM scene that involves ropes, knives and a vibrator when the female protagonist walks in on them (her brother and his girlfriend). I don't want to put it into the BDSM category because the story isn't 'about' BDSM and the protagonist has zero interest. The scene clearly indicates the tied up female is very, very willing to be there. But this establishes a key aspect of the brother's character (he's handy with knives) for a non-sexual scene late.

The protagonist and her brother were established from the first three paragraphs as probably Non-Human but it's kept unclear until late and they are passing as human. I'm leaning to Non-Human and not Fantasy because other than these two the setting is clearly a very recognizable location on Earth in 1985. And no incest, not even implied.

As to title, I'm undecided. I've considered "You promised me geeks!", "The Huntress", or "Asha and the Virgin."

As to is this Geek Pride? I believe so. Here's a snippet of (first draft) dialogue from the protagonist (the Asha of the possible title):
“Need a fighter? 6th level. She’s a half-orc, kind of a blundering pain in the ass sometimes. Loves her warhammer, ‘Thud,’ she calls it. Thief? I have a shit hot 5th level halfling thief. She could steal your underwear off you. And you’d still say ‘she’s so cute!’”

In addition, another main female character goes to a Halloween party dressed as Sarah Jane Smith, which sets things in motion... (No, no TARDIS appears.)

2019 Geek Pride Story event.

Hi Chloe, could I withdraw my entry 'Road North' from this event for this year. Sorry real job has got in the way, but next year if you run the event. Thanks happy trails everybody. Overwatcher.

Oh no worries. It’s what you feel like doing. There’s no obligation on anyone.

Hi Chloe,

Thanks for organising. Please add me to the list. Very geeky story. Lots of physics. No sex. Title: 'Spin vector symmetry'. 13,500 words. Phew!

Erinaceous.

Alright, I definitely have one entry done, "A Cosplayer's Luck". Just needs one last editing pass to make sure everything's good, and then it'll be ready for submission before the deadline on May 22nd.

I *might* still be able to get a second story together, the "Power Armor Pro Wrestling" thing, but I suspect I'll just be submitting the one entry.

Editing. First, pass about done. Only two more to do ... maybe three.

Or four.

Hey, Chloe. :) I received "remote" confirmation from Dark Pulse today (whom I mentioned waaaay back started his story for this event in 2018 and finished in time for 2019 :D).

His story is ready. He's in the field right now but asked me to confirm his story for the Geek Pride Day event:

One Small Gift, 17K words. High Fantasy. She had a legend to find.
A half-Elven sorceress's valorous quest to save her childhood hero reaches its culmination.

An idea finally falls into my lap, three pages already written and I like how it is going. What i don't like is the lack of time. There is always next year.

Yaaaaay, great.

And working on mine.....

My Star Trek universe story, featuring the crew of the USS Hood, NCC1703, the Romulan master spy Traask, the Klingon Ambassador, a Tellurite Freighter captain, Orion Prositutes, the Kobayashi Maru and "motormouth" Lt. Tilley is almost ready to go to my Beta reader. :D

"The Jock and The Nerdy Girl."
Nerdy does fit the catagory, right?
It's a voyeur story, something I've never done.

Nothing like a bit of working under pressure.

1st story: Rembrandt Legacy II - Marooned on Gorgon IX. - 39k words in and failed. I fucked up my own timeline so bad, nothing but a major rewrite can save it. Not enough time though.

2nd story: Dragon Hunt - Intended as a short (haha, 15k words) stroker, this thing has spiralled out of control and I practically need to rewrite it from scratch to fit the new outline. Not enough time.

3rd story: WizApp (working title) - A take on the "harem" subgenre which I hate with a passion. Dude realizes he has magic powers and ends up the care of a special magician who collects the crazies and the dangerous. Maybe third time's the charm. Can't get any worse, with only a few days to deadline. Good news is I've started yesterday and I'm 14k words in already. No idea if its any good though.
