THe 198th Week of DIpstick Donnie's Disaster

HBO’s John Oliver debunks the Hunter Biden conspiracy theory — with epic dunk on Rudy Giuliani

John Oliver broke down all the catastrophes plaguing President Donald Trump 2020 re-election campaign, with a special focus on the efforts led by Rudy Giuliani to spread conspiracy theories about Hunter Biden.

On HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” on Sunday, Oliver looked at the efforts to smear Joe Biden over his son Hunter.

“If you’re trying to figure out what the f*ck they’re talking about there,” he said, referring to the Fox News view, “it revolves around emails and text messages supposedly recovered from a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden.”

Confession: I put most of yesterday's and today's comments on last weeks 197thweek thread, oops:eek:

People develop habits...four years of this, the residuals may linger.

Thankfully, it shouldn't be as addictive as nicotine.

I thought I'd use his lame duckery to wean myself off, unless he gets indited. Then I might follow his trial and execution!:D:D:D

‘It’s bananas!’ MSNBC’s John Heilemann says Republicans are ‘freaking out’ over Texas

“The moment that John Cornyn turned against Donald Trump and came out and distanced himself from Trump, something he had not done in four years, it’s like a canary in the coal mine,” Heilemann said. “Like an electrocuted eagle in the coal mine, howling, and that’s John Cornyn saying, ‘I could lose this race,’ and a world where Cornyn can lose in Texas is a world where you could have a plausible conversation about the Democratic landslide, 1980s-style landslide in the Senate and a giant win for Joe Biden. I think everyone understands that Texas is fully in play.”

"We don't need no imported bullshit! We've got pure D domestic bullshit enough!"

In 2020, homegrown US disinformation surpasses Russian effort

Russia’s coordinated effort to nudge Americans toward voting for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election caught social media companies flat-footed and remains a stain on the reputation of Facebook in particular.

Four years later, the FBI and other American security officials — aware of interference but silent last time — are warning that Russia and Iran are meddling.

Americans are now playing the leading role, posting the bulk of false or misleading comments, memes, photographs and videos that are spread with the ease and speed of online distribution. And there are signs that it is out of control.

:) Keith O the other day said that Trump's debate was so weak because, "He just ran out of bullshit!" :D:D:D:D:D

GOP voter suppression tactics are blowing up in their face in Georgia: report

On Monday, Politico reported that Republican efforts to suppress Black votes in Georgia are backfiring, as anger over the GOP assaults on democracy trigger record levels of civic engagement in the state and throughout the Black community.

“In the shadows of billboards along I-85 and I-20 encouraging Atlantans to ‘VOTE EARLY,’ barriers to that act loom large,” reported Maya King. “There were reminders of this again during June’s egregious primary election: In populous, rapidly diversifying metro Atlanta counties like Fulton and Cobb, wait times extended up to six hours after polling locations were consolidated during the pandemic. The state’s new electronic voting machines also frequently malfunctioned, further slowing the ballot casting process.”

“And indeed, Georgians are voting in numbers never seen before in the state’s history. Since Oct. 12, the first day of early voting, a staggering 2.7 million voters have cast a ballot — a nearly 110 percent increase from 2016. Beyond that, Democrats are organizing caravans, volunteering as election workers and serving as poll watchers. This level of enthusiasm is also a reflection of apprehension about the election: Voters here are turning out in waves.”

Lesley Stahl takes Trump to task for still not having a health care plan as 60 Minutes airs interview

CBS News’ Lesley Stahl took heat from President Donald J. Trump for asking him “tough questions” during their interview for 60 Minutes and the train wreck will air Sunday night in primetime.

Trump attempted to spike her guns by releasing the interview early, but just brought attention to his bumbling, and driving up the ratings for her 60 Minutes showing.

President Trump’s press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, gave us a heavy book that she described as the president’s health care plan. It was filled with executive orders and congressional initiatives, but no comprehensive healthcare plan. https://cbsn.ws/34qeB0b

And a thousand blank pages!

'Essential Worker' Mike Pence Maybe Giving Everybody Coronavirus, So That's Happening

Vice President Mike Pence is head of the White House Coronavirus Task Force. He's done such a bang-up job that the virus is spreading unchecked throughout the nation, and the administration's official response is a shrug emoji. The president and first lady contracted COVID-19 a few weeks ago, along with seemingly everyone they met in passing. Now, Pence's own inner circle is falling ill.

The New York Times reports that at least five people close to Pence have recently tested positive for the coronavirus. This includes Chief of Staff Marc Short, close aide Zach Bauer and outside adviser Marty Obst. Bauer is Pence's “body man," a civilian personal assistant who accompanies the vice president pretty much everywhere and helps him with a wide range of duties. Last we checked, the coronavirus is highly contagious so it seems odd that Bauer could have it without passing it on to the vice president. However, the vice president's office confirms that Pence and his wife, Mother, both tested negative Sunday and you can take that to the bank.

Well Pence is in charge of the Covid-19 Task Force.;)

This could be your last post in this thread. Well, except for Lame Duck.

There are many more days of Trump fuckery to cover this week.

The latest reports of 12 GOP Senators in knife edged races is encouraging. Early turn out in the election is a wave building. GOP panics are fun to watch, also too!:)

I don't have anything for this week, but I expect the 199th week will be a fun thread. :)

You're right. I meant your last thread on this topic. Well, almost.

MADISON, Wis. (CN) — New polling released Monday shows Democratic candidate Joe Biden expanding his lead over President Donald Trump in three crucial Midwest battleground states after winning over a bigger share of previously undecided voters.

The poll from the University of Wisconsin’s Elections Research Center, or ERC, shows Biden with a 53% to 44% lead over the president with likely voters in Wisconsin, compared to the 52% to 44% and 52% to 42% advantages Biden has in Pennsylvania and Michigan, respectively.

------------

Among those who voted early, Biden enjoys advantages of 73% to 26% in Wisconsin, 75% to 23% in Michigan and a whopping 87% to 9% in Pennsylvania. Trump holds roughly 20-point leads among those who have not yet voted in each state, but those gaps pale next to the differences seen in early voting.

As analysis released with Monday’s poll puts it, “although Trump is favored by those who are yet to vote, the margin is not large enough to compensate for Biden’s advantage in the early vote.”

Trump inadvertently helped drive ratings up for ‘60 Minutes’ — not down

:)

President Donald Trump tried to drive down the ratings of “60 Minutes” by posting his interview with CBS News’ Lesley Stahl before the program aired on Sunday.

Trump, who spent the week promoting his interview, helped bring in 17 million viewers who also saw the interview with former Vice President Joe Biden.

“That represents the most viewers to tune in since the infamous Stormy Daniels interview from March two years ago. During the Trump interview, Stahl grilled the President on his coronavirus response,” wrote Variety.

“The near-final numbers are in and 60 Minutes‘ election edition looks to have taken down Sunday Night Football, the World Series and pretty much everything else on TV since the Oscars,” wrote Deadline.

Harvard just released a poll that should give Trump’s campaign heartburn

One of the wildcards in the 2020 presidential election will be turnout among young voters — and one poll released by the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School shows that President Donald Trump has reason to worry.

The poll has found “historic interest in the upcoming election” among voters between the ages of 18 and 29, as 63 percent of these voters say they will “definitely” be voting this year, up from just 47 percent who said the same at this time in 2016.

What’s more, the poll found that these voters are going overwhelmingly for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, who leads Trump by 63 percent to 25 percent among the voters most likely to go to the polls.

Trump patronizes and insults women — as he seeks female votes before election day: report

THe phrase "Trump Card" is changing meaning.:)

“Four years ago, women preferred Hillary Clinton by a 12 point margin over Trump, according a Pew Research Center analysis of national exit polls. President Obama had a similar margin among women when he won the 2012 and 2008 elections,” said the report. “Polls suggest Biden could swamp those margins. A survey conducted by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal this month showed the former vice president leading women by 60% to 34%, compared to his overall lead of 53% to 42%.”
