Sir Barnard Hastings passed the portrait every day of his existence,
View attachment 2180968

The portrait of him as a young man shortly before his untimely death during a card game where he had accused one of the other players of cheating, unfortunately, all the other players were cronies of the one he had accused and they took him outside and beat him almost to death, He had been discovered and taken to his family home where he died of his injuries. Only he still existed or rather his spirit did and refused to leave the comfort of his home, forcing him to wander the mansion aimlessly and unable to tell anyone he was still here. That was two hundred and fifty years ago, he still felt like a 25-year-old with all the yearnings of a red-blooded male but he had long ago given up all hope of satisfying his needs with another being.

His hearing was as sharp as a fox and he heard the key turning in the lock on the main door and a man's voice, what he said both shocked and angered him,
"Here you are Miss, best of luck settling into your new home, it needs a lot of work being empty and neglected for so long but you got it at a knockdown price," The man chuckled, "I didn't mean you should knock it down though."
Barnard almost exploded with indignation, the mansion ,,,his mansion being sold and to a female as well,,,, preposterous! And that upstart saying the mansion was neglected. Yes, there were one or two things needing attention but they were beyond his capabilities. Why oh why did the Hastings line have to die out leaving the place empty?
As for the woman who had bought the place, she couldn't be allowed to stay, he had a few powers he rarely used but he would scare her out within a few days.
Being a spirit he could move around without being seen so he went to the entrance hall to take a look at his adversary and revised his time to a few weeks before she would have to leave he was going to have fun teasing and scaring this one, She was beautiful.
