So now it seems there is a major looking Cholera outbreak in Haiti. I've been expecting this to happen but actually expected it to happen much sooner. It also happened in an area I wasn't expecting it to happen. (I expected it to start in the cities, not out in the country side.)

Given that cholera's spread by ingestion of contaminated food and water, and considering the condition of Port-Au-Prince and other cities, I'm a tad surprised myself. Of course rural areas have fewer amenities than city dwellers, including pure water and sewers, but rural folk know how to live in that environment.

I'm guessin' city dwellers fleeing the devastation are now living in rural areas and aren't as savvy as the locals about sanitation.
