Doesn't every home have that one special Christmas ornament that is not just a decoration, but means so much more, because of it's origin or associations?

Here is mine. I hope you'll share yours.

My mother and father bought a set of these birds for their first Christmas tree, when they came to America in 1952. This fellow is the last survivor.

We had those when I was a kid. My folks were married in 1953, so probably the same general age. I think my sister has all the ornaments that have survived, I'll have to see if she has any birds left.

My mom had a little glass house ornament, with the same kind of finish, but it came from Germany and she had it from the 1930s when she was a girl. The tree was never "done" until she hung her "house" up.

I did a little research, and the birds were apparently made in Germany as well.

I love love love mercury glass! That's a beautiful bird. It's very nice that it still has it's original tail, as they often don't.

I have all of my mother's ornaments. I don't think I could pick a favorite one out of the bunch.

the only two ornaments I have really.

My ex wife took all my old family decorations Id inherited. Lot of nice regular bulbs and all those silly plastic bells with glitter on them we made every year in church.

Cunt.

Now, there's the holiday spirit!

It's loose, but still there. It was held on with what looked like spirit gum, which eventually dried up to the point of being useless.

Beautiful
A lovely tradition
Mid century offers so many treasures

I have a bunch on my parents tree. We have one for every Christmas since I escaped my mum's vag.

I had about a dozen storage totes of ornaments in my attic. When I announced I was moving into a tiny house, and would be taking all that crap to the dump; well, ole Johnny was pilloried by the Savage Women. So guess who's been lugging all that junk out of the attic for the past few weeks.

I have some hand-blown glass icicles that are a favorite. My tree this year is too small to use them, so no pics as they are still packed away.

Nope....Christmas has always meant shitty shitty day if not week for me as a kid so I hated the holiday as an adult and wouldn't piss on a box of ornaments to put out a fire.

Does anyone remember the thin silver streamers they called icicles? I swear my gran could make a tree look as though they had grown there. She put them on one by one and made them look so delicate. Most people didn't have that knack.

That stuff always made the kitty litter look so festive during the holidays.
