I can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving! I can't believe it's almost Christmas. I'm totally unprepared for it.
Anyway, what is everyone planning for Turkey day? Visiting family? Big dinners? Staying home?

Personally, I'll be with Logo and her kids, her sisters and their kids, and who knows who else. I get to be in charge of dessert, so I'm a happy camper. It'll be weird, though, because it'll be the first time in many years that we haven't been with either my family or the ex's. We'll probably have lots more fun this year. :)

There will be so many of us, the kids will have a great time. They run and play and eat and cry! All of our favorite things. Did you see that I put our Thanksgiving menu up in my other thread? How fun!

I did see that. I love that you keep calling the other pumpkin pie "fancy." :)

Thanksgiving day with his family... I'm bringing salad and dessert (they like this jello stuff I make, for some reason... ask for it every year, without fail...) then Saturday, Thanksgiving with my side of the family... I'm bringing crescent rolls and dessert (Lemon Ginger Cheesecake)... I don't have to cook, thankfully! :D

What? It's an effective descriptor.
And everyone is excited for the fancy pie!

I have 5 Thanksgiving dinners to go to this year. Only two of them are on Thursday, one at noon and one at 5 pm.
My best friend OhMissScarlett is having dinner at her house tomorrow.
My dad's side of the family is first on Thanksgiving, and then I've been invited over by the parents of the guy I'm kinda sorta seeing.
He's going with me to my mom's on Saturday (she invited him) and then Sunday, I'll probably go with MissScarlett to her dad's.

That's a fuckload of turkey.

I'm so not in the mood for big family gatherings right now, but I really would like to try the deep-fried turkey.

I think I'm gonna try to stay vertical long enough tomorrow to make one/some of my favorite low-carb turkey day dishes. Then, if I feel up to the trip to mother-in-law's on Thursday, I'll take some along. If not, I'll have my own feast.

I have an after-school date with a nine-year-old Tuesday to buy the fixings and bake the pumpkin pies for Thursday. We're making four pies: Two "traditional" (from the recipe on the can Libby's pumpkin) and two of the Low Carb, nut crust pumpkin pies I pioneered last year.

My younger granddaughter is being groomed to take over the annual Thanksgiving pumpkin pies but she's not quite ready to solo, so I get to supervise. :)

My quest for a low-carb pie crust -- and a low carb pumpkin pie in general is in the How To Forum and includes the recipe I came up with.

ETA: a link because it got buried even after I bumped it for thisholiday season -- https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=386082

I don't usually do anything for T-giving, but I think this year I may make a bunch of traditional stuff (in my thread "in the spirit of the first t-giving) just for the hell of it...and I'm craving comfort food. ;)

My wife and I will be working on Thanksgiving so we'll head up to my parents place the day before.

My mother has requested that my wife bring up one of her Rum Cakes, so we shall.

Rumor has it that my father has a shitload of wild game in the freezer, (Venisson, Bear and Gator to be specific,) and I fixed his smoke grill last week. I somehow have the feeling that I will be doing some cooking, and that I will be transporting some meats down to fill my freezer. We shall of course see what happens.

The hard part for me is because I am working on Thanksgiving my co-workers are expecting me to bring something in. Now I have a Turkey in the freezer as well as the spices. I'm thinking of hauling this bird up to my parents place with us and cooking it there. I'll have room on the Smoker as well as the time.

I'll just have to make sure to bring the Stock Pot and the Crab Boil.

I make a cheesecake crust with just ground pecans, butter, and Splenda. Verrrry yummy.

The elder granddaughter requested a Cashew crust this year. I'll have to negotiate with the younger granddaughter but I think this year will be just Brazil Nuts, Hazelnuts and Cashews (omitting the almonds from last year.)

The oilier the nut, the more difficult the crust, in my experience. Ground almonds are easiest to work with, but they have the least taste.

I grind some pecans to a flour consistency -- and some to a coarser consistency. Makes for a nice texture.

Good luck!

Surprisingly, in my experimentation last year, I found the Brazil nuts had the least problem with clumping or turning to paste.

I've already vetoed the inclusion of peanuts -- a "peanut crust" sounds good, but a "peanut butter crust" is apparently "yucky." It didn't really take much to explain that peanuts in a blender turn into peanut butter instead of peanut flour. :p
