There is no "place" for this. Lacking that, here I am. Nameless moderators (smile) place as needed.

I know to a small degree what you're facing. A long stint from home, a sudden introduction following a 'long' plane ride... I spent six months in Saudi, but there were no bullets, only SCUDS.

I'm sue you'll be greeted by open arms.

Hats off.

It has a purpose

No matter what you hear and say fellows and ladies, You are in the field to make a safer world. For you and yours. To hell with the flamers..., you are the sun of this nation right now and God willing, yours is the light that will guide the future of America. Not these flaming cowards who continually demand that we run. "Our flag stands for the red, white and blue. And these are the colors that will never run!"

Disappointed

I would be dishonest if I wrote that I was satisfied wth this response. When I did I was rather hoping a few of the "protectors" might stray to Lit and enhance the picture I portrayed. That didn't happen.

Allow me to crawl back under the closest rock with many thanks to those (that one) who responded.

I wish the Air Force had a cool saying like "Semper Fi!"

Maybe "Eat this!"

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has
given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us
freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, Who
has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves
beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by
the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

Well, first off the tail end of the weekend is a really slow posting point hereabouts, and this section of the forum isn't exactly the hot spot for posting for many people anyway, so that has a lot to do with it.

That covered, you have to understand that ( quite naturally considering the content ) the populace of the website tends toward left leaning.

While this doesn't make a person any less inclined to support our military personnel when they're out in harms way, it does seem to cause a trend toward not *openly* expressing that support unless directly challenged to do so. This of course, is not a constant that applies to everyone, as some could care less about what others think and speak their minds regardless.

The reason being that the most rabid and vocal of the left consider such expressions to be a betrayal of the cause that condones everything the military and is involved in and the whole policy slate of the "Shrub" Administration as well. Nobody really wants to hear that from someone that they agree with more than they disagree.

There is also the added disincentive of people with opposing viewpoints to your own making it a point to troll every story you post and encourage their group of cohorts to do so as well. It happens quite freqently, and some are even bold enough to post threads openly stating that they are doing so and showing examples.

The plain and simple truth is that there are far too many who consider supporting and encouraging fellow Americans who wear the uniform of our country as support for Bush and therefore evil. Those loud few will often fence in the rest who would otherwise express their support while at the same time expressing doubts about the need or preparations for their mission.

To all the military out there in harms way doing your job with honor, regardless of your nationality (us arrogant Americans must not forget all the others out there in harms way either):

Keep your heads down(but your chin held high), get the job done, and come home safe.

Now I surely wish I had seen that before! It is great and it really says the most truth I've ever seen about the mistaken boars in these states! I hope some of the troops are gettin' a gander at this! Because someway, somehow, The world has to see that we aren't all regurgitators!
