After reading some of the stories here and in RL from supposed peers, I just want to say thank you school house rock.

I'm sure my teacher's taught me something but mostly it was School House Rock.

For christmas last year my little brother, known for off the wall gifts, gave me a DVD with all the schoolhouse rocks on it. First time in years I got something for christmas I actually loved :)

I still have to say my favorite is Three, It's a Magic Number :)

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up two boxcars and making 'em run right.
Milk and honey, bread and butter, peas and rice.
Hey that's nice!
Dirty but happy, digging and scratching,
Losing your shoe and a button or two.
He's poor but honest, sad but true,
Boo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

I liked the "Schoolhouse Rock Rocks!" CD that came out a few years ago ... popular artists remaking some of the songs. "Three is a Magic Number" was done by Blind Melon, if I remember correctly.

Schoolhouse Rock

let's not forget

Just a Bill

I'm just a bill,
Yes, I'm only a bill,
And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.
Well, it's a long, long journey
To the capital city,
It's a long, long wait
While I'm sitting in committee,
But I know I'll be a law someday...
At least I hope and pray that I will,
But today I'm still just a bill.

Sufferin' Till Suffrage

Well sure some men
Bowed down and called us misses,
Let us hang the wash out,
And wash the dishes,
But when the time rolled around
To elect a president
What did they say, sisters?

What did they say?

They said, uh, see you later,
Alligator, and don't forget my, my...
My mashed potatoes,
Because I'm going downtown to
Cast my vote for president.

and of course Lolly lolly lolly get your adverbs here. :)

LOL, those were classics. Do they even show them anymore? I know they can be found on video.

I shall never forget a high school American Government class in which, during a test that asked us to write the Preamble to the Constitution, someone started humming the Schoolhouse Rock version. And soon, we all were humming. The teacher simply busted up, one of the few times any of us had witnessed the hard-assed old bastard actually laugh. We all got that question right ;)

Now my daughter's hooked on them, and it's amazing how well those jingles stick with you even twenty-five years later.

This, I think, was the most poetic of them!

Think of eight as double four
Think of four as half of eight
If you skate, you would be great
If you could make an figure eight
That's a circle that turns round upon itself

Turn it on its side and it's a symbol for infinity...

Probably that was the only time I ever enjoyed learning my times tables. :)

I loved figure 8 too.
And naughty number nine, with the little mouse and the cat playing billards. Drat! I just posted a story about strip pool based on the rules for nine ball. That would have been an awesome title!..
Oh well :)
