"Thank You" Threads

As ole blue waves his magic wand ....

He casts a spell on the members of the BB in the hope that they will LET THIS THREAD DIE, ALREADY. Puleeeze!!!!

This thread reminds me of a "bored" meeting where everybody either takes one side or the other, and repeats and repeats and repeats themselves until everyone wants to come out of their skin. In fact, some of my feathers have prematurely fallen off.

So, since I can't delete this thread from my email, I'm gonna do what my heroine, MP has done here. I ain't coming back to this thing again. You hear me. I ain't coming back! Arrghh!

Hey Blue, I agree with you. That's the same thing that I said about 2 other threads. "What the hell..." and "A brief discription of yourself" should be gone and buried already.

Psst psst for your info, the chat people decided to keep the "What the hell" thread going instead of invading the general board. We have manners and respect the other members of the board. You don't see bitching in that thread, just FUN.

First, let me address a couple of things, then on to WS. DCL, no, I’m not looking to find out how everyone here feels about me. I am,however having a good debate with a couple of fine people. Sorry if it gets on your nerves.

“Dog Pound” See how easy it is to provoke someone with a little name calling? Also , I do find it amusing that people throw out names about and to me right and left without a thought or care, but let it come from the other side of the fence and look out. By the way, Dog Pound is the playful name I have for several of you who insist on running in and pissing on the campfire, while the rest of us are roasting marshmallows and singing songs. But that’s just my opinion.

MP-I’m so glad you are done, as debating you was a tiring affair. Trying to steer you back to the discussion at hand EVERY SINGLE TIME got old fast, and your debating skills leave a lot to be desired. Debating with you is akin to slapping a baby. I know I’ll get attacked for this, even while you shout about your “right to post what I want” while denying me that same right.

WS- Now for the meat of the meal, as it were. I respect you greatly, and I did so want to think about what you said, and how I felt about it. Your post deserves a little time and effort. Here goes.

First, the “Slap”. I do not know you in RL, I don’t know how to find you or your friends, I don’t know where you live nor do I want to. That being said, how can the slap be anything but figurative? I meant no offense, well, mostly, and the point I was making was totally missed. I posted under my own name in protest to the “good ol’ days” discussions. If you felt that I meant anything else by it, sorry.

IM’s-Hey, that is a great idea, and I do have a lot of handles to the people in the “following” however, MOST of my threads are better served with a group response, even if some in the group do not like those type of threads. So when I ask about SPAM or MIRACLE WHIP or some such inanity, I want to see what the GROUPS thoughts about those subjects are. IM’s would be great for this, but you only get a few responses and not everyone is online when I come up with something to discuss, and sometimes I would like to hear a total strangers response. Just for kicks. The type of thing I need to express this fully would be a bulletin board. Like the one here, or elsewhere. The exaggeration that you assigned me about posting “take a shit now, or out of milk, or a dog just walked on the lawn” is just that, an exaggeration. I don’t remember EVER posting such as that. Maybe you assign my threads that I do start the same importance as these worldly topics, but SOME people don’t.

Self centered? I don’t think so, but I am just as biased in my opinion as you are in yours.

The only other point I’ll address is the one concerning knocking “good threads” to page 2. It isn’t that big of a deal to me, but it is to some of you. How are you going to deal with the explosive growth of the board, were at 11,858 members at last count. What happens when they want to express an opinion, idea, or inanity? What happens when it reaches 20,000 or 50,000. If only a percentage post here, like now, it’s still going to get crowded. My concern is that 6-8 months down the road, you and yours will still make it tough for people to enjoy themselves and post whatever is on their mind, without worrying about pleasing the “in” crowd. A lot of people look up to you, madam, and will continue to do so. I do, even if I disagree with you on this one point. I have a thick hide, and am willing to admit my mistakes, and apologize when necessary. Some people aren’t like me and your off handed comments hurt, and hurt dearly. I know this isn’t your intent, you are not a hurtful person. But I digress.

One last thing, your last comment, “If you’re going to just say, ‘Oh, crap. There she goes being boring and bitchy again,” then save it. If that’s all you can muster up in your defense, you’ve just exposed yourself as incapable of rational debate,” is unfair. I told you I would openly debate this, maturely and reasonably, and if I remember correctly, for THAT reason you decided to post your comments. You didn’t decide to post because I am incapable of rational debate. At least that is what I inferred from you earlier posts.

Thank you for reading this, and thank you for the opportunity to express myself, as I thank you for expressing yourself.

Ambro, glad to see the reply. :)

First, let me say that not everything in that massive post of mine was directed at you specifically. In going back, because I started that post with your quote, I can see where it appeared like that. I'm sorry about that. I should have taken the time to separate what was in direct response to your post and what was just related thoughts that didn't apply to you personally.

“Dog Pound” See how easy it is to provoke someone with a little name calling? I thought that Dog Pound was very funny, actually.

Apology accepted. Still, I can't see how anyone was supposed to understand your protest against the "good ol days" from that very personal remark. I'm willing to consider that I was the only one who took it that way because it was directed at me, but it seemed pretty obvious to me that you were attacking me in a mild way.

IM’s-Hey, that is a great idea, and I do have a lot of handles to the people in the “following” however, MOST of my threads are better served with a group response, even if some in the group do not like those type of threads. It's very difficult for me to accurately assess where your threads fall as far as category. Honestly, I may be lumping your threads in with some of "The Following's" because you all seem to travel in a pack, like us doggies. Heh heh. I agree that survey type threads belong on the board. But you have to admit that there are a bunch of ridiculous threads (not necessarily started by you personally) that belong in IM-land. Will you grant me that, at least?

The exaggeration that you assigned me about posting “take a shit now, or out of milk, or a dog just walked on the lawn” is just that, an exaggeration. I don’t remember EVER posting such as that. Maybe you assign my threads that I do start the same importance as these worldly topics, but SOME people don’t.

That "take a shit" comment wasn't directed at you, but at those who feel the need to start a thread about going to the store or grabbing lunch. Those WERE two topics of recent threads. I exaggerated to drive my point home.

I do like silly threads. I participate in surveys. I like to flirt. I don't like all worldly topics. My beef was always that there was an excess.

Self centered? I don’t think so, but I am just as biased in my opinion as you are in yours.

Agreed. We all are.

How are you going to deal with the explosive growth of the board, were at 11,858 members at last count. What happens when they want to express an opinion, idea, or inanity? What happens when it reaches 20,000 or 50,000. If only a percentage post here, like now, it’s still going to get crowded.

Good point. I've thought about this. I think that, although there are 11,000+ members registered, that doesn't mean that all of them read the boards, post on the boards, or even actually COME to Literotica at all anymore. I highly doubt that when people drift away they go to the trouble to "un-register."

Still, the amount of active members does grow, and I have no idea how Laurel will deal with that, or how I will, personally.

Well! It wasn't until recently that I even considered the possibility that I was part of the "in-crowd." I didn't perceive of myself as a person a lot of people respected. I knew I had some friends, a very few, but other than that, I didn't get much support on the board--that is, until this whole silliness situation came up. If I'm respected, that's great. I hope I earned it, but my behavior isn't going to change because of that. I am what I am, and I have always tried to conduct myself with consideration of people's feelings. See, I can't "take it," so I don't make a habit of dishing it out.

You have a valid point. I certainly don't want new people afraid to post because they're afraid of incurring my disapproval. While I find some satisfaction in the thought that I'm respected, I'll say right now that NO ONE SHOULD CENSOR THEIR POSTS JUST BECAUSE THEY THINK I WON'T LIKE IT. Geez. Obviously I'm not the only one whose opinion counts on this board, however, if my opinion concurs with a lot of other people's, I don't see why it shouldn't be voiced.

As far as "posting what's on their mind," another point of mine was that not everything that comes to mind is appropriate for the board, a la I'm taking a shit. Some people may not be as savvy about board etiquette as others. So if I again feel the need to point out the debatable accepted norm of posting here, I'll try to be objective about it, and not make my personal bias so obvious.

One last thing, your last comment, “If you’re going to just say, ‘Oh, crap. There she goes being boring and bitchy again,” then save it. If that’s all you can muster up in your defense, you’ve just exposed yourself as incapable of rational debate,” is unfair. You didn’t decide to post because I am incapable of rational debate. At least that is what I inferred from you earlier posts.

That comment was directed more to The Following, who can usually be expected to leap to your defense with comments like that or with a parroting of your own remarks, instead of their own valid points. However, I'd be less than honest if I didn't say that part of me expected you to shy away from this discussion.

Now, I'm waiting for you to address my point about your anonymous aliases.

WS and Ambro--
I have to tell you both that I am very impressed. I really don't know why the hell I read all that lengthy verbage; I almost felt like it was none of my business, but since I did, I must tell you that I'm impressed about how you, Ambro, got "it" out of your system, and you, WS, did too... all the while addressing Ambro's points.
Very nice.
By the way, WS, I like the "Dog Pound" reference.
