Change the background elements a bit, write them both up, and you have two stories. Bringing someone else's opinion in is just bringing one person's opinion in. Have fun devising two different spin outs of the essentially the same idea and decide later which one you like best--and if they are both good, publishing them both. Once you start writing by committee you've lost "your story."
