I usually get little feedback on my stories and as such, write very few. A couple of weeks ago I read a story on this site by, "Just Plain Bob." It was a "loving wives" story that wasn't bad until the end where the cheating wife had her husband raped by 5 guys and blackmailed him into becoming the usual, "cuckold" husband.
I had already decided to write a story that was based in part on my own story. The ending I had picked out, although embellished, was fairly close to the truth. Instead, the rape scene and it's unrealistic results from the other story bothered me so, I incorporated it into my own story, but with a much more realistic ending. I had no idea it would generate so much controversy and so much interest. In the note section, before the story begins, I had explained about borrowing the rape scene, but my explanation did not accompany the story. So, I got several bad reviews from others who thought I had plagiarized that part.
In addition I received e-mails and feedback with questions regarding other aspects of the story. There was enough interest that I have written a sequel to the story. It explains, in her own words, how Judy, a loving wife, made so many bad decisions and came to conspire to the blackmail of her husband.
The first story is, "Picture perfect." I know it contains several mistakes and I'm sorry for not editing it more closely. The story was done in one sitting late at night. The sequel is entitled, "Not so picture perfect," and is now in the pending stage and should be release in another day or two.
To all the people who had questions regarding the first story, I hope the sequel will answer them for you and I hope everyone enjoys the reading.
Thank you.

I understand. I have gotten positive feedback, mostly privately, but nothing serious towards giving me some help improving the writing. I had a very good editor for a while but my work overwhelmed the hobby and we lost touch. I was discouraged enough not to share from 2008 to now.

I give all that preface to say that I look forward to reading both your stories as a whole and hope to be brave enough to give the feedback I also look for.

Still in Pending

My story is still in the, "pending" stage. I'm sorry. I didn't think it would take this long.

How long has it been in pending? How long did you think it would take?

In addition to Pilot's questions hopefully you did not, since you submitted it, click pending. That will keep sending you to the back of the que.

Submission

I submitted it Sunday night. This is Wed? The date says 8/12. Does that mean it will not be published until 8/'12? I was hoping to het it in so the first story would still be fresh in the minds of the readers.

If it says 8/12 then that is when it goes up. It usually takes 3 days but with new writers it can take 5-7.

Thanks

This is really a crock. I wouldn't mind, but this is the sequel to my first story. There was a ton of interest in the first story with a lot of unanswered questions. I sat down and wrote the second story hoping it would go right up. I don't have a lot of stories on here, but I wouldn't say I was new.
This really ticks me off.
Thanks for your input though.

Nope. Other than contest entries, you likely will never get to the point where it takes fewer than three days to go up. You'll just have to plan for that.

You really shouldn't get ticked off. This is all spelled out in the FAQ.

I understand. When I submitted my first test story, it was up in maybe three days. Perhaps they were not busy. This time it took a full week. It peeved me at first to see it sit in pending so long. And I appreciate the comments here as to the process behind the scenes.

I have not voted or commented as much as I should on others work. Thus my committment to read, vote, and comment, here in particular. I still look forward to the more complete version.

Thanks

That's exactly what happened here. My stories don't usually get much attention. Picture perfect was the fist story I've submitted in 2 years. It was up in 3 days. Then it hit the fan. Never had I received so many comments, most of which were good, but people wanted more. I felt I had an obligation to those readers so I sat down and wrote the sequel in two, long hour, sessions and submitted it immediately after finishing. I wanted the first story to still be fresh in every one's minds. Now it has been sitting in the "pending" mode without anything being done for 5 days. Like I said, I would have no problem if it weren't for the fact that it's a, "time sensitive" sequel.
Oh well, nothing I can do about it except know better next time.

Everybody wants their stories up immediately. We all wait our turn for the overworked editor to wade through the submissions.
