Thank you, Connecticut Supreme Court!

Oddly enough Arizona has a proposition to make marriage one man one woman, or whatever it actually is the commercial was rather unclear on that. I suppose I should pay more attention to TV, somehow I doubt I could manage it though.

Kinda funny though, there was this confusing one for the proposition then there was one against, made much more sense. I suppose I was actually paying more attention to it but it did make more sense, though all it said was vote no it's bad. It's one of those state done propositions and it has a few other things on it that really don't make any sense. Which I suppose is somebodies way of saying this sucks don't like it. ;)

Oh yeah YAY Connecticut. Gives me three places to move if I turn lesbian and want to get married. :cattail:

Let's not forget Florida....

Please vote against the state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

Unfortunately Florida already has something similar to DOMA....but lets stop state sanctioned discrimination. Please.

Please VOTE NO FUCKING WAY.

I already voted absentee NO FUCKING WAY...um...I mean No. I'll be in the NC mountains on Judgement...I mean Election Day...prolly a good place to be under the circumstances. :D

Wouldn't it be better to ALLOW people with gonorrhea to get married, to (hopefully) encourage them to stay together and not spread it to anyone outside that marriage..?
The idea behind the law was to make sure that the wife/husband didn't suddenly find out that their soon-to-be virginal spouse had not been so virginal and was about to give them a disease. In the days before couples started routinely living together and having sex before marriage, the test was mandatory. You got the test and then the results, and then you decided if you still wanted that license. :D

Obviously, when it came time for me to get married, I'd been living with soon-to-be-spouse for a while. Which meant the test would be too late to save me or him. In such a case California basically says, "you're on your own if you want to test for diseases as you probably both have."

And thanks VM for the correction. It makes much more sense given that syphilis can stay hidden that this would be what they were testing for.

Hot Mama is a medical microbiologist. It's amazing the things I can find out that your really didn't want to know in the first place. Some day I'll tell you about the days when she was studying parasitology . . .

Ecactly, this is the main reason why the wife (an Arizonian) and I live in UK, as a legal couple. It's not a marriage in word or law, but as far as we're concerned, we're married. Wife and wife. I can't see us every being able to go back and live in Arizona, married or not. they don't look kindly on same sex couples even living together.

I still lived in Tucson when John Birch Day was declared a holiday (because the then-governor wasn't going to honor MLK for anything). And I remember seeing Buchananite lunatics on the streets trying to gather support. No, Arizona has a very spotty history of intelligence.

At the top yes, the basic everyday people here don't give a hoot about what others are doing, unless your in a college city or Mesa. I'm not kidding tempe and Mesa are where you go to see people beating up others because they are gay. Phoenix is much better about that, probably because of all the mexicans, they have this great whatever you do don't do it in my yard mentality.

Honestly i don't think that one man one woman thing will pass, the for commercial was a basic this is on the ballot please vote for it ad, the against was this stupid thing does this and this and this and they are all wrong, wasn't a mention of the one man one woman thing. Like I said it has add ons that will kill it. ;)

Arizona isn't the most forward thinking of places, however it is cheap, if it affects your wallet it's getting turned down. There was a proposition to increase the service time of buses in Phoenix, it was turned down because there was a tenth of a cent tax increase. The city later just did it anyway, nobody is complaining. This one doesn't have anything good on it, it's bad all the way around so it will be voted down and disapear. It's there because of California, we share borders and certain groups got nervous.

I plan to vote No on 2.

I have never been able to understand how voting against gay people getting married "defends" or "preserves" mine.
