Thank a Vetran

I thank a Vet. every time I see my father.

I think of the Veterans of all Armies, be they alive or dead.

I think also of those who put their lives on the line without the recognition of being a Veteran.

Anyone who has served, who has faced the risks in whatever capacity is to be honored. Victor or Vanquished they stepped forward.

Yes, Dulce et Decorum says it best.

If you think they were wrong... remember they may not have had a choice.

if you still think they were wrong... remember they were young

if you still think they were wrong... remember it is always the "worst" among us who protect the freedoms of the rest.

There are no words to say except: Thank you.

because you were young and scared and did it anyway.

And you should be proud. He fought in a war that was extremely unpopular, not only in the halls of congress, but with the 'help' of the media, the general populace as well. I was there, too, and no one other than my family has ever thanked me. There WAS a reason to be there. It failed because nobody understood the threat, just as they don't understand the threat we face today with terrorists.

I praise your Dad, whether he had a choice or not, for going where he was sent, and doing his job, despite the unpopularity of that war. He didn't flee to Canada to evade his duty. I'm proud of him, too.
