I want to submit a story in audio form. Unfortunately, my microphone program only allows me to record a maximum of 60 seconds per .WAV file. I can break my story into 60 second fragments, but this is not ideal.

Can someone tell me how to combine several .WAV files into one longer .WAV (or other playable) file? TIA.

If you are using the basic sound recorder on your computer with your microphone it will stop after 60 secs, however, if you keep an eye on it and watch when it stops you can hit record again and it will keep going for a little longer than 60 secs. So, you'll have to just keep watching for it to stop ad then hitting record again until you finish. The only down fall to this is that it only lets you record upto so many minutes (I can't remember how many).

Or, you can go to audacity.com and download their free recording software that works with your mic.

Hope this helps:)

There are other programs you can try (as I happen to be very well versed in this field).

GoldWave
Audacity
Cakewalk Home Studio (about 40 or 50 dollars - but hey, it can do other neat stuff. ;) )

Or go to www.hitsquad.com and head to the shareware area and do a search on it. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me.

Xelebes, I've just used Audacity in the orgy thread, and although it allowed me to zip a file of one of my songs. It doesn't play, any idea's?

Carl

ps Could you try downloading my song from that thread and see if it plays for you.

Which page? (to kinda help me here in the search for it.)

The file is an aup. I am assuming that is an audacity project file - which is no good for most players. You'll need Audacity to render it to wav, mp3 or ogg (or aif or wma or whatever god forsaken format you choose that is playable by media players.) Please render it to one of these formats and then zip them up.

Thanks Xelebes, I did manage to convert it to an mp3, but it was still too big. Oh well, never mind.
