6-9 months! Yowsers!

I gather from the Sony comment, you live in the SA area?

I live further north, but I know some business folks in the SA area. Very doubtful I can help. But I WILL ask around and let you know if I hear anything.

Good luck!

P.S. Love the new AV! :p

Damn. 6-9 months? I hope you can hold out that long!

Hubby will be looking for a job before long. Well, he actually is looking now, but won't be in a panic about it for some months yet. He retires from the AF in Dec. '04, so will need a job by then, so hopefully he will go straight from AF retirement into a new job.

I need a job, but I'm not trained for anything. I've been "just a mom" for so long now that about all I'm employable for is flipping burgers, or day care...and I don't want to do either of those! lol

Blue,

Don't sell yourself short! Stay at home moms have plenty of skills, they just don't have the confidence to apply them.

My wife is a stay at home mom and is one of the best 'managers' I have ever met. If you can run a house, keep the kids organized (fed, clothed, to school on time, etc.), handle PTA functions, home room mom, team parent for sports, etc. You can handle and manage just about anything. Oh yea. I almost forgot. Some of them (my wife included) even manages to keep me straight (fed, to work on time, clothed, etc.). And that is no easy task mind you.

You might be surprised at what you can do. Just keep your confidence level high and practice selling yourself and I think you will do just fine.

As an employer, it is amazing to me to see the lack of work ethic in the work force these days. Especially with young kids. Everyone wants to get paid managers pay for positions of no responsibility or accountability. They show up late, want long lunches, need to take off to take care of personal business (doctor appointments, pay the electric bill, take the cat to the vet, etc.) during work hours and want 4 weeks of vacation. How nice it woul dbe to find someone that WANTS to work and is willing to show up on time, work all day and do what is asked of them. All for a paycheck.

WOW! What a rant I got started on. Apologies to all. Can someone give me a hand so I don't fall while I step down from my soap box???

Aw, thanks DC. I don't think I'm as good a manager as your wife. I don't do the room mother gig, etc. I've never had the energy (didn't find out until '99 that I had sleep apnea...no wonder I was always so exhausted), so I am pretty much a stay-home stay-home mom. I do good just to get the shopping done. Of course, since the surgery and subsequent weight loss (42 lbs. in 8 weeks as of yesterday!) I'm getting out and about more, so hopefully I won't be such a hermit much longer.

But I understand what you mean about people wanting all the benefits but not responsibility. We've raised a generation of slackers. Ok....I shouldn't generalize. Not all young folks are like that.

Share yourself with the world

Blue,

Congrats on the weight loss.

Really should get out more. Explore. Meet new people. Enjoy the great outdoors.

You have much to offer the world. And it would be a shame to stay inside and deny us all the opportunity to get to see and know the real you.

You must share yourself dear! And along with sharing will come experience and confidence. Important points when interviewing and entering the work force.

Good luck!

Blue.......42 pounds??? I won't recognize you next time I see you!!

Yeah. 42. I was really hoping it would have been more, but it will come. I have to remind myself it is only 8 weeks post-op.
By the time I get close to my goal, I'm going to be soooo ready for a tummy tuck. And believe me...I'm gonna NEED one!

By the way, Sara...you really won't know me, because I'll probably be sober! lol I don't know how well alcohol will set with my new "system".

Oh....thanks to both of you for the "congrats"!

You'll have to ask Sara that question; she's the DenMom here.

Yeah, that was some storm! I was driving home from a meeting at 9:00, in the lightning. What a light show!
