Texas

Welcome! We tend to come and go at odd times around here, but check back frequently. The gang will show up when you're not looking.

Have fun!

Hey! Who ya callin odd?

Welcome from me too! :)

someplace - Long time no talk! Things getting better at your place? (Send me a pm if you prefer.)

See my post in DT's Renaissance thread. I had to buy whathisname a staff and get him a 30 min massage out there, but it meant we could stay longer than a few minutes.

I want to hear about the Nutcracker Market. Did you go? Was it wonderful????

I was afraid to go, since I'm going to have to take out a second mortage to cover my Quilt Festival activities a few weeks ago.

I'll be at a show this Saturday on 105 in Conroe and then the following weekend at the Victorian Christmas on Sixth Street in Austin -- our first 2-day show. You should come visit. *nods*

My stomach has been flightly all week. I expect it to get worse until this is all over.

yeah give IWC a reason to come to Austin hehe

I have to come up with a Victorian TEXAN costume. What the hell does that mean?

During Victorian times, people in Texas were still practically pioneers. Skirts, blouses and bonnets? Surely nothing fancy.

Anyone got any bright ideas?

Nutcracker Market was awesome as always. I left much of it behind since I just had two major car repairs in the last 6 weeks or so. Damn budget. I did manage to pick up some of my favorite things but in smaller quantities.

Inquiring minds want to know what you will be selling at the show. Anything that will tickle my fancy? I'm sure you will do great. You are a great saleswoman!

A corset and spurs? No, that just sounds like the costumes for a low budget flick...

I dunno!

You've been busy!

Have you ever made a quilt out of blue jeans? I saw some photos. Very manly - a new target audience!

Well you see the costumes for Dickens' Christmas on the Strand and they wear those huge hoop skirts. I'm thinking: "Let's see -- 10x10 booth with display tables taking up 4 feet, which leaves 6 feet. If I wear anything that isn't form fitting, there won't be any room for customers!"

I'm thinking a straight jean skirt, Victorian flavored white blouse and my granny aprons that I used to wear in Old Town Spring. MAYBE I'll ask my mom to make me a bonnet. That's good enough.

I'm sure someplace's "warmers" would go over VERY WELL in Austin!

Just get West Austin down there and she'll be set - they're like being in Spring or The Woodlands - snooty snoots LOL

Denim is really hard on the sewing machine. My big buy at the RenFair was a bag of leather scraps -- all I could cram into an 8x12" bag for $15! What a deal!

I got blue leather and pink leather and browns of every shade, light green and dark green. Just fabulous. I've been making patchwork balls the past two weeks and have branched out from cottons to exotic materials -- embroidered silks, velveteens, corderoys etc....so I was excited to try the leather. Came straight home from the fair and cut out the pieces for a ball. After sewing about 4 of them, I got discouraged because the leather doesn't want to move through the machine -- kinda sticks and makes the thread break. I dreamed about it that night and decided I needed to mix other fabrics with the leather, keep the fabric on the bottom when I sew, and see if it'll glide through the machine better that way.

Any leather workers out there who can give me advice? I KNOW these balls will be beautiful if I can figure this out.
