Residents of other states (and nations, for that matter) never seem to believe I am from Texas because of my 'neutral accent'
But I can blend with the locals when called upon; simply pronounce single syllable words with at least one additional syllable... damn becomes da-yum, for example. Alternately, join longer words to a single syllable, such as 'you ought to' become yacht.
A local BBQ restaurant actually sells a CD with Texan lessons on it.
But to return the favor, I love all the various accents I hear when I go to London
