Texas passes laws that strengthen their state's voting integrity: Good.

Texas state senators passed a GOP-led voting reform bill Tuesday, following Democrats' departure from the state in a move to stall passing the House's version of the bill.

In a party-line vote, 18-4 Senate Republicans passed a bill that would more heavily regulate voting laws, an effort that Democrats have dubbed as ‘Jim Crow 2.0.’

D-bags calling the stronger, integrity-protecting laws, 'Jim Crow' is translation for: Waah, Republicans won't let us control our states voting system!

There's nothing about the law that increases integrity of the election.

Actually it does:

"Under Senate Bill 1's provisions, a ban would be implemented on drive-thru voting or casting a ballot from inside a vehicle unless participating in curbside voting due to a disability. A ban would also be placed on overnight voting, requiring polls to be open a minimum of nine hours from between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Election officials would also be required to install a video surveillance system that records vote-counting activities, with a livestream made available to the public in counties with 100,000 residents or more. Those in large counties would also be required to install tracking software to monitor "all input and activity" on electronic devices used to count votes. Beginning January 1, 2024, equipment that does not disable or remove any wireless connectivity capability would be prohibited from use in tabulating votes.

SB 1 would also allow partisan poll watchers to observe election activity inside polling places and vote-counting centers as well as during curbside voting that takes place inside a vehicle. It would also make it a crime to deny access to a poll watcher.

In addition, voters would be required to include a driver's license number or the last four digits of a Social Security number on a vote-by-mail application and the envelope containing their ballot. Individuals who help voters cast their ballot, due to language or physical needs, must fill out a document listing their name, address, relationship to the voter, and whether they're being paid by a candidate or political committee. Those who drive three or more people to the polls would also be required to fill out a similar form unless all vehicle occupants are family members."

All seems very sensible to me. What right minded person would object to these and why? actually we know why.

How does any of that address integrity issues that exist? i.e. - show me where there are problems with the current setup that these changes address.

Specifically this part will completely make voting worse:
allow partisan poll watchers to observe election activity inside polling places

Wait a minute, passing a law can make people not do "illegal" things?

As an aside. I just saw a news blurb that attorneys in Michigan have determined that voting machines there were compromised during the 2020 election.

Attorneys like Lin Wood? Sidney Powell? “Attorneys in Michigan” is now a reliable news source? Your bulb grows dimmer.

Congratulations Texas! Only a matter of time before the Dems return with their tails between their legs.

I love how upset and triggered Democracy has Democrats these days. :D

Election security, medical freedom, liberalizing gun laws..... if we got some free speech protections that would super piss them off.

Texas has had poll watchers for years. They represent candidates, political parties and special purpose PACs. It’s highly regulated in terms of who can be a monitor and what they can and cannot do. Both parties, as well independent groups like the Civil Rights Project and Common Cause send monitors. I have not read the text of the bill that passed the Senate or the pending bill in the lower chamber. What’s new and different, and how will make things worse?

"Polling stations"

They're literally going to hover over you as you vote

No

Maybe they’re upset that the bill requires at least 9 hours per day of early voting during the early voting period and at least 12 hours during the last week of early voting in large counties. Or maybe they’re upset that emergency provisions put in place during the pandemic will not be permanent.

Yup.....anything other than a free for all ZERO security election, will be declared "voter suppression" by them.

They're upset that business hours of corporate America guide voting hours.

And polling locations restricted

And multitude of other measures that have no purpose which specifically impact THEM

Yes. Getting out of bed and going to a mailbox or polling station during daylight hours is extremely difficult for many of them. And don’t forget how difficult it is impossible for rural residents. 😂

What could go wrong?

Yes, walking to the local school, post office or church is just too difficult!!

And don't even get started on ID and how racist THAT is.
