yeah its like insta sweat when you walkoutside here its horrible

We went to the Pavillion last night. I just LOVE that feeling of sweat running down the middle of my back....BLEECK! Eventually there was a nice breeze. Once back home, it was every person for themself to see who could get in the shower first. It's not even August yet...too soon to complain I think. You KNOW we've got at least 2 more months of this to get through!

Texas heat

yea gotta love the Texas weather it's suppose to be a cold front here in the metro plex for the next few days only suppose to hid mid 90's lmao Thats a hell of a cold front

Texas weather

I just wanted to put myself in the roll call. 40 maried male Austin area.

At least it was nice this spring. I can't remember it ever being that cool.

2 months? LOL how bout the rest of the year - if anyone has lived in Texas long enough, they'll realize summer never quits LOL or atleast the feel of summer - I remember middle of december it being 95 degrees (granted a week later it was back to 40-50 degrees but still). I use my A/C almost year round. Sometimes I think we don't need heaters in this part of the country :p

I meant the worst part, of course. We all know it'll get to a more manageable temp about October -- high in the 80's maybe instead of high 90s, low 100s like yesterday. I don't want to know what my electric bill will be next month!

Dallas (formerly of Ft. Worth, back to Austin in the next yr); 23 yr old male. Avg-chubby build (working on it). 5'11, 190lb. Always up for whatever, especially looking for teachers.

Yeah, I don't know why I picked my highest running mileage to be at the same time as the highest heat, but I just couldn't do it! No more running twice a day for me until it cools down!

Anyone else planning on the marathon this January?

Been there and done that! I know about the training in the summer time...it is a bitch but well worth it. I did it in 2002 which had nice weather so we'll see what you end up with. Is this your first one?

This is my first marathon, but I've been running competitively for about 10 years (middle school through college), although I am not fast at all for a runner (was one of the slowest on my Division III team).

I hope to run 7 minute mile pace, which will qualify me for Boston, but we'll see. My training seems to indicate that this should be a very doable goal.

Thanks for asking. I hope your marathon was good. Ever think about running another one? I was going to run last year's marathon, but events transpired against me. That shouldn't happen this year.

I have thought about it but then I think about all the training involved with it which doesn't really leave me a lot of time during school when I have so little to spare. For now I run for health and pleasure which is lots of fun. I ran the race to finish it so nowhere close to a 7 minute pace. I will say that the last 6 miles are all mental but they are rough. The crowd is great though. Are you training with a group?

*waves*

I just found this thread... figured I'd better put my "hello's" in now, before someone found me and spanked me for not doing so! :D

I've heard that the last 6 miles are the toughest. I haven't found a good group to train with, so I am following a book and training on my own right now. Running does take a lot of time out of my schedule, but I find that it's hard to keep a good daily routine without running everyday, so I often get more done when I'm training.

If you want to find a group, hit up Fleet Feet Sports and they can help you find information on how to contact a group. The other way is to call the Galloway Group or check them out online...very helpful for the longer distances when things get to be very boring. I would avoid Houston Fit, they are too big to be any real fun as far as I have heard from several people. Good luck in training though!
