My first car was made in 1977. It had around 110,000 miles and was ready to run to 200,000, but it didn't survive a chain collision with front and rear damage. It was very comfortable, but with low mpg, poor handling in snow, and little storage space in a big car, I would have eventually sold it. That's still a big step up from new cars lasting only or much less than 100,000. Here's a mechanic's opinion of new cars:
