I am reading one too, "Dodger".
Pratchett manages to bring in Charles Dickens and Benjamin Disraeli, has them interacting with a very young man from the poorest part of London in a most funny way, and paints the living circumstances of the very poor with nonchalant but exact and accusing words.

Yes, it is sad news. He will be missed dearly by many.
I too love the book he wrote with Neil Gaiman, "Good Omens" is fantastic!

Good Omens is indeed just amazing.

I resisted the Discworld books for years and once I started I read them all multiple times. He left a wonderful legacy.

He's always been destined to be a legend. I just read an article written by Neil Gaiman about Terry. Really insightful. The man will be missed terribly. I looked forward to his new writings.

Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman wrote an awesome book called Good Omens. It is described as "The HitchHikers Guide to the Apocalypse" it is funny as all get-out!

He will be missed, and held in the same literary regard as Isaac Asimov.

:( I had been thinking about reading some of his stuff because his name seemed to be mentioned a lot. What would be good for me to start with?

Pick anyone, they are all good.

A really nice set to start with is "Wee Free Men", "Wintersmith" and "I'll Wear Midnight" and then, when you have a "feel" of how Pratchett thinks, read "Good Omens". And then the rest.

Or you could start with "Nation" a book about a boy and a girl who don't understand each other at all, but get along quite nicely.

As with all great authors, there are many levels to his books. It is absolute fun to read them, and if you are in the mind for some serious pondering, they provide the starting point.

Damn...He was one of my favorite authors. It is a great loss. To think no more Discworld novels.
I always heard there were plans to make a Good Omens movie though. Wonder if that will ever happen?

This news made me very sad today, but I'm glad we have all of his fantastic works to remember him by.

Terrible.

A lot of authors I've followed over the years have passed away recently.

Sad.
