Tell us your favorite christmas song here!

For some reason I like the ones that are not very cheerful, such as "What Child is This" and "Carol of the Bells".

I don't have any links to the German songs we usually listen to either.

far more bitter than sweet, that one, Rob!

I love the sweetly bitter ones; "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas," and "Blue Christmas."

My allover favorite album is The Roches

Yeah, I'm in that camp.

Add anything Christmasy sung by Karen Carpenter.

Probably my favorite in terms of just pure musical listening pleasure, plus a big dose of childhood nostalgia, is Vince Guaraldi's "A Charlie Brown Christmas."

Peace and goodwill. :rose:

Okay, forgive me for "Grandma.". This one is for real, I promise.

Many of you may not have heard of Lisa Layne or a song she did with, Vince Vance and the Valiants (a Sha-Na-Na type group) called: ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU

Her belt-it-out, honky-tonk delivery reminds me of Patsy Cline and Reba McIntyre. In comparsion, the Mariah Carey version sounds like, well, a Mariah Carey version.

Go aheard, check out: ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU

Most Christmas songs annoy the bejesus outa me - probably because they're all blathering on about sleighbells and snow and cold when it's fry your eyeballs weather...

I do like "Grandma" though.

LOL, you asked. Well, they run the gamut and I can't nearly pick just one.

The Christmas Song and O Holy Night - Nat King Cole
I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas - Bing Crosby
Take A walk Through Bethlehem & It Wasn't His Child - Trisha Yearwood
Bellawood - Garth Brooks
Hard Candy Christmas - Dolly Parton
Two Step Round the Christmas Tree - Suzy Boggus
Dashing Through the Snow (in a rusty Chevrolet) - The Yuppers
I'll be Home for Christmas
Sleigh Ride
God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman

I always love the country Christmas countdown.

Slade and Greg Lake

Sure, the first one is corny, but it's still the defining tune to me, partly because it just is and partly because it was used as background to the tragic final scene in a friend's first play.

The second one presses a lot of my buttons. In the days I ran a mobile disco, Christmas gigs always included this one - and I'd exagerate the crescendo so that by the final notes the kit was wound right up to just below the clipping point.

Mind you, I enjoy singing carols...

The Lost Christmas Eve and Other Stories, by TSO.

Here's a little teaser.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra puts on the greatest concert in the world. I can't wait for December 23rd. ;)

The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole

I collect 50s 60s music. I agree with you about 'The Christmas Song' by Nat King Cole and I will add a song I got to really appreciate during my time in NYC, 'Silver Bells.'

Let it Snow

I picked this version not because I'm a big Gilmore Girl fan, but because I like the version of the song they picked.

"Let it Snow" has all the cozy romantic appeal I identify with Yuletide, white winterland outside, crackling fire inside, snuggling up and keeping each other warm through a long chill evening...of course, I cop to the fact that it's romantic to me because I never have to deal with snow :D

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen as performed by Barenaked Ladies with Sarah McLachlan

Alison Moyet's version of Coventry Carol

Where Are You Christmas? by Faith Hill
