Tell me about your hobbies

What do you do to fill in your spare time? Are you a wild child jumping out of planes, or do you prefer to curl up in a chair with a good book? What hobby or activity would you like to try?

As the board has been so quiet I thought I'd give this thread a go. I hope it hasn't been done before???

I'll go first:

I like photography and its a rare day when I'm seen without my camera's (don't leave home without them) much to the dismay of my family. I'll photograph almost anything from scenic views to old boots! But my favourite subjects are animals (as in wildlife) and of course my family - hence the dismay!
I also enjoy reading, writing poetry, walking (I try to get outside for a walk at a few times a week), swimming (I'm a real beach girl) and I have also ridden horses competitivly for years. At times I have also enjoyed Bungee jumping, absailing and jet skiing.
My big thrill for this year will be skydiving.
So what do like to do?

I read.

I read alot. I just finished Sandra Hill's My Fair Viking.

I also am a computeraholic.

I have 3 kids who take up alot of my time,so I guess I could call them my hobby as well.

Yes, the board is quiet. I like photography too, but lack organisation.
Chess I played chess for fun until everyone I have taught got better than me, then it's no fun.

I love swimming in the sea.

Tomorrow I'm taking part in a boules competition. This lasts about 5 hours, but the food is good. Food in France is always good. They take this game very seriously which I think is highly amusing - a bit like the Englich and cricket.

Bridge playing and canasta.

Oil painting.

Camping and travelling. I love Spain.

I never would have guessed that you were the curl up with a good book kind of girl ;)
You have reminded me of two hobbies that I forgot too - computers, in particular the internet.....alright Lit! And my children of course....how could I forget them? lol

An old boyfriend of mine taight me how to play chess years ago, I haven't had the chance to play it since though - which is probably a good thing as I sucked at it!
Camping is great! Every year at Christmas we pack the family and head off for our annual camping holiday on an island, believe me when I say that just the thought of it can get me through some of the worst days......

Free time?

Well, if I had any, I enjoy sewing, playing guitar, singing, walking, hiking, fishing, canoing, swimming, writing and underwater basket weaving!

Of course, admittedly, I don't excel in any of these pursuits.

I do find being a mom is my #1 hobby!

Finger painting, bike riding, soccor, playgrounds, reading, talking, singing with kidlings and just observing them as they learn and grow. :)

Feel all warm and mushy about mom hood today!

Oh yeah I forget this too...I also like sewing - I am in the process of making a wedding dress and three bridesmaids dresses for a friend.

FREE TIME

I enjoy a good medical book or any book to advance my career. I also like to study military ops. Exercising, as in running, riding, power lifting. I always travel. I also jump from planes, scuba dive, snorkel and fish.

pretty simple here, i draw cartoons mostly, stay on the computer all day, either playing games or talking to my girl, umm i actually read a book like a week ago but it was spiderman the movie so does that count as reading cause it was something i liked?,time with the S.O , avoiding my family is becomming a hobby also

I like to embroider, do ceramics, make collages. I enjoy studying languages - yes, even as a hobby. I am now on my 5th (excluding English), though will admit that I have more serious goals for my current language fun as I am using it for grad studies.

I collect postcards and Wedgwood basaltware (go figure).

I also ride my bike a lot. Rode around 25 miles yesterday!

oh yea

I am also a disaster worker as lets not say a hobby but as a want and need. Worked disasters in the Philippines 3 times, NYC on Sept 11 and several floods.

Pretty low key here. Work on the web, mIRC, write code, photoshoppery, and on occations been known to have sex. Mostly I do graphic arts on the side (outside of my normal work) and sell. Blame me for those damn pop-up's, cause I'm the one that designs them for companies!!!

Now, WAKE UP!

well... I have a fair bit of spare time, and I spend a lot of it in the garden - we moved here a year ago, and I'm getting it how we want it...

and I like to go for a wander with my dogs and a camera.. I like to drive (too fast, just got a speeding ticket)

I like to write, read and swim too, although not ALL at the same time... :D Yeah I know, you'd probably gathered that...

And I like watching horror and sci-fi films.... and I'm doing a couple of websites for people...

s'about it for now.. there's more of course, but that's just the main stuff..

 :rose:

There are a multitude of things, most of which I don't have time for but I try to make some every now and then. I love to cook <make my own dog biscuits, bread, all sauces, pizza crusts> so I try to set a Saturday aside at least once a month for those things and do a large quantity. I like to read and normally have 3 books going at any given moment. I love to write poetry but just haven't had the heart lately. I have a wonderful garden going in the back yard and herbs growing on the porch.

The majority of my time belongs to my son. He is my heart and for now because this past year has been really tough on him I spend what free time I have with him. We ride the 4 wheeler, go fishing, hiking, play with tractors outside in the dirt, I coach his ball team so we have practice and games, and we go target shooting pretty often too. The way I figure it, I'll worry about me later on.

Childhood hobby of

collecting stamps fed my adult love of travel, either actual or vicarious. I've always collected "people" -- Interesting stories of experiences from all the people I meet (not sure if that qualifies as a hobby)..

I'm currently planning to climb (some of) the "14-ers" in the Rockies with my older son. I'm sure my Eagle Scout will rack-up more than his Mom, but I'm determined to have a respectable number of notches on my walking stick before we're through.

I could easily seed a local library with all my books, so I guess I must list reading. I also have a bed of antique roses and an extensive amount of antique china (and knowledge thereof) acquired during a several year period of letting objects fill an emotional void. My drawers-full of musical media attest to an eclectic love of music (nearly all types). Guess I better find that "stuff" thread and figure out how many moving vans it would take.

Post here. SOmetimes I talk to myself. That's about it anymore.

Hmmm... in no particular order, because it changes all the time anyway

riding
fly-fishing
camping
kayaking
reading
cooking
sewing
knitting
cross stitch
writing
hiking
hangin out with my kids

this year, i'd like to kayak a class III river and camp the boundary waters

I live for photography. I absolutely love it. I even had half my basement converted into a darkroom. I don't take pictures as often as I used to but I still heart it and like to look at other people's work (and secretly think about how I could have done better.)

:D

I read a lot, I think the bulk of my spare time goes toward that.

i'm very lucky to have been able to turn a lot of my hobbies into money making endeavors. i hand craft solid body electric guitars to sell in my store. i sculpt wood and make oil lamps, incense boxes and the like jout of found wood and sell them in a lady friend's store. i write most of the music that my band plays and play several different instruments. i own an ocean kyak and a mountain bike but haven't had as much time for them this year. i hunt and fish but again, not as much as i used to.

I have a multitude of interests and am not really proficient at many of them. I do enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, reading, target shooting, writing (am taking a class now), and photography (although a really good picture is a rare occurance). I am also a computerholic. :)

Circumstances soon to be changing in my life will necessitate that I devote more time to my daughter. As Georgia Girl said, I can focus on me later. . .

I enjoy...

I enjoy computers (Network Administration)

Listening to Music (alternative and hard rock is what I prefer, although I will listen to anything I find catchy)

Mixed Martial Arts (grappling is what I'm best at)

Weight Lifting (really helps with the grappling)

MIRC (can be found on Chatnet, in #canada mostly)

Reading (Fantasy is my fav)

That about sums up my life... I'm borring, I know.

Enjoy the boards all
