I don't have all the email addresses and I wanted to make sure everyone knew:

On 7/30/2008, many of us got a message from Techsan’s email telling us of his untimely death. Hold onto your hats, kids.

I got a message from him yesterday. No, it wasn’t a séance. Our dear Ed is still with us.

For those of you who think it was all a cruel trick, let me assure you, he wasn’t faking his death. He was quite gone for a time. His illness continues and he struggles every day.

This is what happened, in his own words:

It was not my intent to stop editing but ... quite unexpectedly I became hospitalized. At one time the doctors could not revive me and told my wife there was no hope…

I can only imagine what the poor woman must have been going through. He went on to say that she went home that night completely anguished and began making phone calls. After calling the family and starting funeral arrangements, she opened his inbox and sent out the emails that we received.

But our Ed is a fighter. I’ve always said that some doctors give up too easily. He rallied, fought hard and managed to find his way back to the world of the living. After that, he spent what he called “nine miserable months” in three different hospitals before he was finally allowed to go home.

To say he is still having difficulty would be an understatement. As he said, he won’t be going back to editing any time soon. At present, he has only one hand for typing and it causes him pain.

Techsan asked me to send this information to you because he lost all his email contacts in the two years he’s been fighting to return to us. His worst fear right now is that he has disappointed everyone. If you’re like me, you’re grinning ear to ear knowing that our dear friend is still with us. I, for one, will cherish all he gives and be thankful.

Molly

Thanks for letting us know. I thought a lot of Ed, and I'm happy to hear he is still with us. Let him know I said hi.

What a relief. I miss the old man and I'm glad he's still fighting. That's our Ed. ;)

I never interacted with him, but I knew of him and how great of a person he was through seeing posts about him. Glad he is still with us.

Glad to hear. He put the final polish on one of my stories.

I don't think I interacted with him but once or twice, but I'm glad to hear he's still fighting. :)

I only know Ed (Techsan) through what others have said about him. I know how he was mourned by all who's lives he touched and I'm glad to hear he's still among us. I hope his condition improves and he can edit and write once again. :)

ummm... I don't know the guy, but i am very glad to hear he is alive and fighting for all he's worth! Keep it up Fella! Sending you strength and vitality in your time of need!

I didn't know him well, but I am damned glad to hear he beat the reaper this time!

:)

Best Damn news in a very long time! He always made stories better when he got done with them. It's just nice to know he's still with us!

Eventhough I've never heard of the person (which I should fix at some point), being one of the newer people on board here, I'm relieved to hear that he's still fighting and holding on to his hat.

I hope that he'll manage to get back to this happy collection of nutcases that we all are at some point.

I wasn't around during Techsan's time, but I had read several of his stories before joining Lit. When I wanted an editor, I looked at the Favorite Editor's winners, and saw Techsan's name and I thought, "That's who I want! Wonder if he might consider helping me?" But soon I discovered he'd passed away (or so we thought!) and I was really saddened.

I was thrilled to read Molly's post.

Here's a link to his stories:

Thanks, DH. I didn't think to post the link. Sweet.

Never mind, not worth it. (See "reason for editing" below) :)
