How do I prevent a notice being sent to my mailbox everytime a post is made on a board I am following?

'Email Notification' by default? is set to no in my options section.

Do you happen to be a subscriber to those threads? Because even with the email notification option off, you get them anyway, if your subscribed.

Do you check to make sure that little "Email Notification: emails sent to you whenever someone replies. Only registered users are eligible." box is unchecked whenever you make a post?

Also have a look in your user cp (top of the screen)...then go to options and make sure that the email notification box is ticked at NO.

underneath your post, there is a button labeled "search" -- lick that.

You'll get a list of all of your posts when you click it.

Open each post and click the edit button at the lower right of the post.

Clear the E-mail notification button and save the changes.

Changing the e-mail notification by default does NOT clear the e-mail notification from any existing posts, so you have to go back and edit each one to remove it.
