It was Wednesday, October 31st -- Halloween. Such a day always came with chaos and discord, thugs and scoundrels taking advantage if the holiday. As such, Dick Grayson donned the suit he had worn so many times before, patrolling the streets on his R-Cycle as Robin the Teen Wonder. Riding along side him was his long time ally, Roy Harper, AKA Speedy. The two often worked together, having met as children years ago when their mentors would meet from time to time. They did most of their patrols together, and this night was no different.
Crime was always bad in the Big Apple, but it got even worse on holidays. Fortunately, they were not the only heroes out on patrol. Over the course of the afternoon, they passed several others who were on patrol, and so far nobody reported anything out of the ordinary. Sunset came, and as night fell, Robin prepared himself for whatever might be around the next corner.
“Speedy, did you hear that?” Robin said, skidding his bike to a halt. “That sounded like someone screaming! But, it’s gone now!” he listened closely, but nothing. “Dammit! Who the hell was that...”
“There’s a disturbance in Central Park,” said a deep voice from above them. Robin and Speedy looked up to see a mysterious man in black. He jumped down and pointed. “In Central Park. Just got word of it from a secret source. I’ll meet you there. Supposedly, there are several of them.” and suddenly the man did a sort of wall-hop and vanished over the roof of a building. Robin and Speedy sped off towards the park, and sure enough, there was trouble. Several villains were terrorizing kids and their parents in the park, stealing candy and ripping off their costumes. Robin hit the NOS and sped up, riding up the back of a car into the air, where he leapt from his bike and extended his staff in midair. He fell into the group of villains, and began twirling around his staff, knocking people left and right. Suddenly there was gun fire, and Robin realized he was being shot at. He looked up to see what at first glance looked like a giant robot spider, but turned out to be a small man wearing spider legs.
Jumping and flipping around to prevent getting shot in the head or arms, Robin maneuvered a flawless display of incredible martial arts talent. Then, jumping into a tree and swinging from the branch, he landed right behind the spider guy a split second before he could react, and took the advantage to bring the staff down on his opponent’s head and then jump forward to land several punches.
