So there you have it, it's a middle class tax hike even if Romney is given the utmost benefit of the doubt by assuming he'll finance it by cutting tax breaks for the wealthy. Which he will not even do.
And before you go calling the Tax Policy Center "liberal", realize that Romney himself has repeatedly called it objective and Republicans routinely cite their work on the floor of Congress. Even Lit Republicans cite their work from time to time.
Vote for Romney if you want more of your hard-earned income to go to the federal government.

Even when we assume that tax breaks – like the charitable deduction, mortgage interest deduction, and the exclusion for health insurance – are completely eliminated for higher-income households first, and only then reduced as necessary for other households to achieve overall revenue-neutrality- the net effect of the plan would be a tax cut for high-income households coupled with a tax increase for middle-income households.
