I have an ankle tattoo, a small one. The outline hurt like you would expect sharp needles rapidly jabbed through your skin directly above bone to hurt...it stung like hell. The colored part didn't really seem to hurt, but I think my pain synapses were flooded by then.

Ah, good times.

I don't have one yet. But the Dragon is definetly picked out and ready to be done. Just not sure where to put it yet.

I used to know a cheerleader for the New Orleans Saints. (That's the football team, right?) She told me that one of their initiation rites was to get a tattoo of the Saints' logo...a fleur-de-lis. The girls all get one in the same place, the bottom of their big toe.

Funny. :)

The guy that did my second tatt was responsible for inking the Dallas Stars hockey team when they won the Stanley Cup.

~lucky (suddenly very interested in new ink)

i'm covered in ink. loved every moment minus one... on my chest, just between my breasts ....YIKES! i actually woke up from a fantastic dream when he started work there.
my largest tatt a vine of violets goes from my right ankle, up my leg, around my back and up to circle my left breast. there are dragonflies, butterflies, and a kneeling farie all interwoven in my vine tatt. ive got the bdsm symbol in the small of my back...hearts going from the back of my neck down my spine. every single tatt has some meaning for me.
you would never see any of the tatt if i were in business clothes. you would never know... that, to me is very sweet.

Mine, too, Vella-la. Every one of them are covered if I have more than a tank top and shorts on. I kinda like it that way, nice to see the surprise when they're revealed.

Showing my ignorance, but what's the BDSM symbol...

I only have one tattoo so far. I'm planning on having three total, one for each of my kids. I, too, am addicted to tattoo pain. My tattoo was done last year and I thought I'd do another one soon and then the third they year after that. Then if I take just a year off, it'll be time to have the first one re-inked and I can continue with having something done once a year.

The post-tattoo bliss is amazing. I was single when I had mine done and really wanted to have sex afterwards (while properly caring for the tattoo) and enjoy those endorphins! Maybe next time!

You can go a whole lot longer than that before you have one re-inked, I promise. I went 18 years before I had one re-inked, although it should have been a little sooner. And I don't take care of mine like I should, not even close.

Another reason to wait: it hurts like holy hell to have one recolored. Take my word for it. I'm one of those that falls asleep when they're being done, so I have a very, very high pain tolerance, and it hurt so bad to recolor a small one that I had to take a break right in the middle. Don't do it any sooner than you have to. The girl that recolored mine explained that it hurt so much more because they have to go through scar tissue to get the color to "stick."

I did some "FTW" tattoo designs for a kid whose father was in the Hell's Angels. The local chapter had a couple of career tattoo artists in it so they gave the kid the design that he liked the best, from the artwork I did, right across his sternum. This was a skinny kid, about 15yrs old at the time. He did a really good job suckin' up the pain while the tattoo artist did the work.

Afterward they got him a bit drunk and I suddenly had some new friends in the Hell's Angels.

Yeah. Good times.
