Tasks and Time Limits?

I dont really want to go into too much background detail here, & I appreciate that may make answering my question more difficult, but...

If a Dom has set a task for a sub & specified a time limit to complete the task, should they be a little more flexible on the time limit if:

1) They know they are really pushing the subs boundaries to start with?

2) The nature of the task means that it may be very difficult to complete within the specified time limit?

I'm interested in the views of Doms and subs on this.

As you say, without specifics it does make it difficult to answer fully. So taking that into account, unless it is something which negatively and seriously impacts on anothers' life (not the pyl or PYL) for the task to be done within a specific time frame, flexibility wouldn't really be an issue to be considered here. He likes to push me to the limits, and I welcome it. That being said, it also depends on how he is feeling....if I am extremely ill (most days I am off to some degree so extreme means barely feeling able to walk or do anything), he will sometimes take that into account and allow an extension or raincheck, but not always. There have been times when I have been throwing up, verging on fainting when standing, or in crippling pain when he has still required his orders to be carried out on time or accept physical punishment. It isn't for everyone though, so mileage varies in all relationships as to what is acceptable.

Thanks Catalina,

I know if I really pushed myself to do this I possibly could do it within the specified time limit.

The time limit is a week, though realistically with other commitments it only leaves a window of opportunity of one day.

As it also involves finding someone else to consent to be a part of it, that may then change their mind, I'm panicking about the time factor.

Deep down I DO want to do it, & yet it bothers me how much I want to. I suppose, almost struggling with my own conscience. :(

I always really try to complete a task on time. If I see a day or so in advance that I will not be able to for any reason I will very respectfully ask for an extension telling him what I have done so far and why I don't think I can finish. Then it's up to him. SOmetimes he will grant me the extension, sometimes he won't. If you have to depend on someone else in order to complete your task that makes it very difficult. He may be testing you. (which can be a topic for another thread, but I absolutely hate being tested)

If I hand out an assignment, I have to take into account the person's schedule and take into account the difficulty of the task (and efforts to complete the task should it not be completed to the degree I was looking for). One thing I do is I don't check for the task to be completed at the time I specify. I usually give out tasks that are verifiable by some sort of time stamp (email, etc) and will use that to gauge compliance.

My dom sets asides instructions on a daily basis for me to complete and as of yet he says I have to have it done within an unreasonable time frame. But he expects verifiable proof I did it when I said I would do it.. So usually that is an email showing the time I sent the proof such as the pics or an email detailing out what happend... Depends I guess on your personal situation...
IMO..
