Last night I couldnt sleep and was prowling through the old passion thread poems and found a butt load of my stuff I had forgotten about. In some cases, they are better off forgotten, but I lost a ton of stuff when my last computer died and Im hoping to archive my old junk here, in a place easire to find than having to scroll through the passion thread every time I am looking for something.

THese poems were "instant" however, if anyone wishes to make constructive comments, please fell free. IM not looking to be told they are great, or even good, as I am not that naive.

anyone who ever posted there shoudl probably take an hour or 5 and go through and see what they might have written and l ost in the progression of time. I found some absolute gems.. The one t hat tickled me most was a tristesse poem, the last line reading

"me want sexy troglodite" I laughed so hard I got an endorphin boost and am still smiling when I think about it.
:)

have a happy day!!

maria

just a note--

these wer all passion thread poems. They are not works that I plan on submitting here, I am just getting my " stuff" in order. Some are silly, some rediculous, some born out of boredom.

this post is for 1201 specifically

Dear 1201,

you corresponded with so many times about my Taking up Space poem, that when I found this precursor to that particular poem, I wanted you to see it. Wanted you to see where it was born, and even I didnt remember this entry, which is more like a diary entry than a poem, but...

~~~ ( the old one)
how many lives have I lived
and squandered all
in just a few years
I remember being bleary-eyed and crying
planting flowers by the pond
worried, no
I knew I'd never see them bloom
cause I was dead and no one else
had even noticed
doesnt apathy suck?
my own, I mean, not yours
or his or theirs
but double blossomed daffodils
didnt have to care,
they bloomed with me still here
and they would have bloomed
if I had gone..so whats the point?
there is none, except that I finally
figured out
that I didnt plant those bulbs for me
I buried that part of myself
along with them
and all that miserable
pain and doubt grew back
as hope and sun bright blooms
to remind that dark days led me
to poem and life and finally
back into the light
~~~

(the most recent one)

The daffodils I planted before rehab,
have bloomed four seasons in a row.
The bulbs were brittle but more
than just organic waste, shoved to the back
of a markdown shelf. The bag was torn,
edges taped, pieces of papery bulb peeking out,
and the daffodils I planted, before rehab,
have bloomed four seasons in a row.

~~~
I am hoping to get together a little group of work I wrote about those awful days, and 1201, if you have any suggestions, I would welcome your help.
in fact, I welcome any help anyone wishes to offer. IM still trying to make sense of my many mistakes and this is a narcissistic thread, I know that. :p Im just hoping it will keep me off that old ugly path which I have been tempted back into as of late.
Narcissums are a different flower than daffodils, but all are just as welcome in the spring.
I'm so glad you're inviting us on this journey. I can't wait to see the trip journal when we're done. :rose:
Dyppan
do you ever feel as wasted as I do
by unwavering thirst for the morrow
or do you enjoy the flat saccharin after taste
of yesterday's delirious
i-think-i'm-in-love-with-you lies?
single sentence postcards
cancelled by frustration
delivered on wings of invisible winds;
I know they are there because I can hear them
tickling the chimes by my koi pond
undulate! diverge! dip! rise!
touch all the places you wished you could
when you squandered the chances you never took
evade, fly straight, no detours
no! not through her wood
don't you know you lose part of your soul
when you force yourself to split and moan
or deviate past a single limb
so you can go on
pretending your breath is nothing more
than a subtle summer breeze
angling
fisher man’s prayer
on the end of his line
is the end of the line
for the fish
quickest route, straight line
no detours around circumferences
no valid attempt to finitely define pi
mathematicians plot and graph
and life is a
horizontal
vertical
radical perfect equation
like 16 having 2
square roots
firmly plotted fours
I’m positve
that at least one
is negative
I think this one eventually turned into 1 Fish.
I classify this one as one of the ugly ones because I have no idea what I was thinking trying to work math into a poem. I suck at math. but have always been intrigued by squares roots and prime numbers...
there she was
one among seven
squirming wet and warm
snuggled up next
to her mama's breast
just a month or so later
fluff ball running in the yard
teaching me to love a dog
silly wet tongue on my face
loving me silly
and blond fluffy hair
framed her black Shepard face
Scout was the were-dog
spinning around and growling
inside she was laughing
at how she freaked me out
watching me jump
up on the couch
I was angry
that the sun came up today
and the birds were singing
it should have been
a day of mourning
but all I mourn is my loss of her
her spirit is free
from her old wise dog body
and those gentle brown eyes
will be sorely missed
how she smiled with them
and promised with them
that she was my girl
good bye sweet one
a thought
a feeling
a fear
and wrap it tight within a color
stored away inside my head
deep within synapses and cells
which independently know nothing
clusters and groups and pockets
of wealth
and wonder
and whys in multitude
make me think of you
and the lemon scented strains
of your voice
making love to mine
no sound equals no joy
no words equal no life
please never stop
singing to me
with your feelings
you make me feel alive
my life is just a little
zoloft fantasy
lost in the cobwebs
of my aching brain
blue will teach me how to feel
and what not to feel
and that feels so good
now I know
what I need to know
isn’t wrong
and what I thought
I felt for so long
was never wrong
for me
just stop looking
inside my head
the girl that lived there
is on vacation
not dead
it just is
like light and dark, poetry is
it just is
born in tender trusting
smiles of babies
and lives deep
within the wrinkled faces
and thin-skinned hands
of our elders
it flows like water rushing
from ancient falls
and drips slow.... like molasses
on a
it’s slow and soothing
a warm stone massage
after a long hard day
it’s fast!
intense, an orgasm, a twitch
a glance
from an admiring stranger
or a moment alone
just to think
it soothes and enrages
it makes us think
of ourselves
from outside our selfishness
it’s simple
like a leaf or a cloud
and complex like a lie
or a spider
woven, weaving
wow!
poetry is
it just is
a point of view
that the poet
chooses to share
I had some narcissums near my koi pond before we moved. The crocus and the bright yellow bushes that Tess wrote about and I can never remember the name, would bloom first and then the narcissums.
When do the first flowers bloom in your hometown Carrie? and what usually comes up first.
I tried planting tulips, but it really doesnt get cold enough here for them to bloom a second year. I tried digging the bulbs up and keeping them in the fridge, but my kids thought they were old onions and threw them away, lol
That's funny! I guess planting tulips where you live must be like trying to force the bulbs to bloom in the late summer and autumn here. You have to trick them into thinking they've over-wintered by keeping them in the fridge for two weeks or so, I believe. Anyway, I googled our plant hardiness zone and discovered that agriculture canada puts us in zone 1b on a scale of 0 - 9 ... zero being coldest.
In spite of this we get more hours of sunshine here than many, many points south, due mainly to the 22 hours (ETA: Okay, I exaggerated, 18 to 20 hours of daylight, it's not always sunny. The converse of all that day is all that night this time of year.) of sunlight/day in the summer. The first plants to peak out in spring are my Mom's hyacinths, but these are in a bed right next to the foundation of the house on the leeward side. In other gardens here I see crocuses by mid-April and the yellow flowering shrub (we called it the Easter tree bush in Germany, since they'd bring huge faggots :p of it inside the house and decorate it with small ornaments, a lot like Christmas trees) forsythia, blooms around the same time.
The spring flowers are over so quickly though... <le sigh> but then again, the season's change always brings peonies and tomatoes too.
Forsythia!!!
YAy!! that is the one I can never remember. Like how to spell raccoon. I probably spelled that wrong just now.
In second grade I misspelled it in a spelling bee and the teacher hit me on the back of my hand with 2 rulers held together by a rubber band. She did something to me that day...Mrs. Canady. the witch, made me afraid of failure, I think.
anyway..
it is so cool to hear how it "is" up there. You are making me like winter better, I just hate the dry skin and my hair gets brittle and everything dies. At least you get a coating of something beautiful.
How about the aurora borealis? I bet you get some awesome views. Can I come visit you someday?? :D
A few years ago, we had a sighting of the phenomenon here in SC. Actually, I have seen it 3 times. It wasnt huge, but out in the coutry ( well, it used to be "out in the country" )
when it was so dark you could actually see the stars. It was beautiful, a phosphorescent green that came in shaky waves. It lasted a few minutes, but I felt enlightened somehow.
thank you for telling me about your plants. The ones I brought with me are doing okay, and I just KNOW I brought some forsythia. I had a bush outside my bedroom window that was as big as a VW bug.
Tess and Carrie
I know this sounds crazy, but It must be some sort of sign.
My hubby came a while ago and asked me what are those pretty yellow flowers blooming in the pot by the sparkleberry tree.
I said, nothing should be blooming at all, it has been below 25 degrees the last 3 nights in a row.
gues what it is?
Forsythia!!
:)
why do I have such a mental block against that plants name?
Try using it as an expletive - "Oh for sythia's sake!"
