And yeah, there's lots of stories out here that get flooded with votes through some means or another...besides I was just being me....

...and being me, I did inherently include myself in the statement that you guys went off on....

Gotta disagree. I've never voted on my own crap and don't plan to. Don't post it for votes anyway. You already know whether you think the story you did was good, or average, or lame, what on earth is the point of voting on it yourself? You already know your own opinion.

I know of people on Lit who have several user IDs. They use these multiple IDs to vote for their own stories, and the stories of their friends. Alternatively, these same mutiple ID holders will bomb the stories of the people they don't like. You'll notice they are more in use around contest time than any other time.


It's a personal choice, I suppose, on whether or not you will vote on your own work. I'm of the opinion that you should vote on your own work. You would cast your own vote for political office, why not vote on your story?

I do, however, draw the line at posting public comments to yourself.

I actually saw a suggestion on the forum of authors being able to tag a story a "favorite", so giving those people the benefit of the doubt, perhaps they're trying to highlight their personal favorite work?

I think that's a pretty good idea. You don't want a person who comes to read your works to read the shittiest story first, never to return.

But yeah, if that's not what they're trying to do, it's kind of weird.
