Taken Movie Franchise

Or maybe it's that he knows something awful and mysterious has happened to her, and is trying to piece together the story and get revenge. Yes, that's it, he arrived to identify and bury her, but won't rest until he knows what happened.

And no it's neither of those. I can see the remarkable similarities, though.

There was a movie that came out before Taken - I think it was from the UK (the father had an accent - maybe a scot's or irish accent?). The plot was similar. There's a father who's a former addict and who's been out of his daughter's life for years. He learns that she's disappeared or has been murdered and goes looking for her all over LA.

The Limey, with Terence Stamp. He's an ex-thief just out of prison.

"Tell him I'm fucking coming!"

The (accidental) killer tells him at the end the story about how "she had the phone in her hand, she was about to call the police," the same game she'd used to play with her criminal dad when she was a kid... except he didn't know it was a game. Very sad.

I have a real question. I need help finding a story.
Honest to god.

For the life of my I can't remember the title, not even enough to find it on Google. Everything searchable that I remember about it gets drowned out by this Taken crap. It was violent, but ultimately a rather touching movie.

Yes! Yes! Finally! You don't know how happy this makes me. Thank you!
I'd remembered the phone game as an addiction related thing for some reason.

Oh I have searched so long for you The Limey.

YOu sir may join pointless and JohnnySavage in the corner.

not really. she just told chuck she was a atheistic socialist and dude fucking bolted for the hills.

in sped up slowmo, of course.

If you like a good, character-led revenge flick, you'll probably enjoy this one. If not, just imagine that everyone this guy runs into is Phil and methinks you'll be satisfied.

I've ordered it! Will let you know. I love Terence Stamp. :)

Like a lot of other movies the first was good, the other two not so much, just more of the same.

I like Liam in pretty much anything he has been in, including movies like Next of Kin with Patrick Swaze and a horror flick called the Haunting (I believe that was the name)

And to echo someone else, he was great in the Grey.

I hope you do. We got a copy and watched it last night. It's more atmospheric and meditative than I remembered it. It might not be for everyone, but I can see why it stuck with me, and still does.
He wasn't on my radar before this, but Stamp is pretty amazing. They did something unusual in this film, but I'll stop talking about until you've seen it.

Looove Terence Stamp. I've seen Teorema about a zillion times because Terence Stamp directed by Pasolini so it's a close to heaven as exists on earth.

I'm probably the only person on earth who hasn't seen any of the Taken franchise (dunno why, I like thrillers) but I do like Liam Neeson.

If that's you - Hi Liam, er, Mr. Neeson! :rose:

I hope the OP isn't Liam Neeson, though, because it would depress me greatly if Mr. Neeson felt the need to make anon accounts on obscure forums to post, "Taken is fantastic! I'm-er, He's a great actor, isn't he? And so very handsome!"

And another thing...

Teorema is also worth seeing because Anne Wiazemsky is in it as well - and yes it's that Anne Wiazemsky, the one who is the star of Balthazar, which is the single most beautiful and heartbreakingly perfect and extraordinarily depressing movie ever made. She's insanely brilliant as well as beautiful (Anne W., I mean) and additionally (I did not know this until right now because I'm a doofus) she was married to Jean-Luc Godard! She was a muse for some of the most genius filmmakers ever - Bresson, Pasolini, Godard. Just wow. If I could be anyone in history, I'd want to be her. Or Yolandi Visser.

Here's a neat article/interview:

Okay, shutting up now.
