I was reading through the hobby thread and noticed that several of us are into D&D and other role-playing game. So, how many of us here are gamers? I'm talking both tabletop RPGs and miniature wargaming. I do both. I'm also a member of the RPGA.

I remember going to my friend's place in elementary school ('twas my only friend back then) and he was playing some tabletop rpgs. I glossed over at that point. That's my only memory of it. I know my oldest brother took a stab at it but soon lost interest in it. I can only recall him having one book to use and it was Robin Hood. I couldn't make any sense of what was contained in the book but there was numbers... lots of them. I like numbers.

Done it, but not an "active player". Tend to spend my time on other things now.

I try to game twice a week, but my group isn't the most reliable. When I was in college I gamed twice a week for a year, ON THE SAME CAMPAIGN! Now the group I'm with wants to start a new damn storyline every night. We'll get something good going, play for 8 or 9 hours, and when I come back over the next night, the GM is like, "ok make a new character!" GRRRR! So frustrating!

And then everytime we get into playing one system or another, they want to switch! First it was D&D, then it was D20 modern, then it was vampire, then it was D&D again, etc. I'm like "Pick something and stick with it!!!"

I tend to go through phases of feast or famine... I have a weekly group that hasn't proven reliable, & occasionally (such as has been the case of late) we go a month or so without gaming, & other times I find myself role playing four or five nights a week (or days... or whatever) with whatever friends I have gathered.

Ditto.

Avid gamer when I can be. RPG baised comp games (even let everquest take over my life for a year... and then I found Lit- and got tired of spending real money on pixels)
I have character sheets on file my own dice, love reni fairs when I have the time to get out. RPG table top, obsessed with dragonlance and forgotten realms (some other works as well.. but those are the big ones) play 3 character depending on what is needed for the campaign.
I usually end up CO-DMing though and lighting the flames under peoples asses to come play though... I hate fighting for my meal, so its a game of tag really.

You know we're all going to turn around and say "we should have a D&D Litogether..." then argue on who gets to be the DM right? Does anyone else sense this?

Actually... I have all the stuff to play D&D but can't find anyone around here to play with.

I'm waiting till I have the money saved up then will buy a complete set of books for Werewolf the Apocolypse (but only if I can find some people to play with).

Also wanting to get started in Jadeclaw and Ironclaw, but since I'm broke I'm just sticking with Online role playing and video games lol.

Good idea!!!! I don't want to DM though.

I've done some roleplaying in my past. My favorite was the VtM LARP I did in college. I just loved dressing up. :)

Wow. Some people I hadn't expected have posted. Very interesting. I wouldn't mind a Lit D&D game or something, but I think we're a bit spread out to manage that at this time. I don't know where everyone is, but I know at least one of the people posting is about 1,000 miles from where I'm at. Of course, one of the others is about .5 miles away, but that's a different story. :)

MastrJ posting on cutedemon's 'puter.

Gamed at UW, huh? Which campus? I helped start and run Kenosha the Eternal Aria which has often been played at UW Parkside. There has been a Werewolf LARP attached with the Vampire game and I believe still runs on alternate Wednesdays. I helped with a read through of the Changeling LARP rules before they were published. I also played a Wraith at a LARP down at a 'castle' in Illinois the first two or three years they held that. I also participated in a rather lackluster Sabbat LARP at UW-Whitewater. Yes, I am a member of the Parkside Association of Wargamers.

Hell, I even drove down to the Grand Masquerade in Atlanta back when I was in college (93 or 94) to play a Silver Fang. Haven't done a LARP in quite a while. I even sold off most of my White Wolf books so I couldn't run table top anymore.

hmm.... forgot that there might be more than one campus....

The main one, in University district; in Seattle. We used to play in or under UW's 'red square'. As I mentioned I haven't been to LARP in a few years myself, though I still do tabletop.

Given that the second edition books I so cherish are all discontinued, I doubt I'll ever part with them, even if I do stop playing for a while. Woe betide any of my players whom I catch abusing my books though :D

MastrJ thought you meant University of Wisconsin.

Yep. That I did. University of Wisconsin has something like 14 different campuses spread out across the state. I often forget there's another state that could use the UW abbreviation.

I gamed quite often when younger, mostly AD&D 1st and 2nd ed and the original Star Trek Star Fleet Combat simulator put out by FASA, dropped the Star Trek and just played AD&D while in the army, often times called upon to DM.

I haven't played in forever though, and all of my books are packed away. Although I am in school, I have no time for anything other than my studies due to the major. One day i'll probably sell all of my source books on Ebay....

Well, MastrJ, we've already discussed my RPG experience, but I might as well put it down for the record.

Haven't played D&D since shortly after 3e came out. That's about the only game I've played for any length of time, except for about a year of Warhammer RPG (not the table top, miniature game) in college.

I must admit to being another gamer, though not currently with a gaming group. White Wolf is my poison of choice, though I've played quite a few other games in my time, including D&D, GURPs, and Star Wars.

He plays as well, mostly Warhammer right now, though he also enjoys GURPS and D&D.
