Table 6 (closed)

Het lets his hand fall to her shoulder as she confesses her blasphemous ways. Looking to the sky with with a pious look that doesn't quite hide the amused smirk, he says quietly, "Lord, protect me from this scandalous woman."

When its his turn to order, he orders the breakfast hash. A collection of potatoes, sausage, onions and mushrooms all fried and smothered in shredded cheese. "And coffee, cream and sugar, and absolutely yes on the two straws."

Once the waitress leaves he leans a bit closer, just because he can. "Actually, I'm very picky who I share food with, but when you ordered a shake with the breakfast plate, you made the cut."

Reaching across his lap, his index finger traces a relatively innocent line across her knee. "So how are the knees doing?" He laughs at a sudden thought. "You're gonna have to wear a long skirt to work tomorrow or there's gonna be some awkward questions about how this date went."

The slouched, off-the-shoulder collar of her sweater drops slightly as she leans in closer. So when the warmth of his hand makes contact with her skin, she feels it straight in her core - an involuntary clench of interest that makes her press her teeth into her lower lip.

While the line Matt traces along her knee is seemingly innocent, she can’t deny the earnestness of her libido and her body’s responses to his slightest touch.

“They’ll be ok.” She answers on the fly. “I’ll need to ice them when I get home, but they’ll be fine.”

She smiles at his next thought and can’t help but feign ignorance, “Oh?” Risa slides her hand to his knee and simply lets it rest. “What kind of awkward questions do you suppose I’d get?”

"You know. Hot date. 'Oh look someone spent some time on her,' Aaand you are just yanking my chain." He says embarrassed. "I was all serious too."

The shake arrives and he slides it to his side of the table. "Now you need to earn back your shake privileges. But, lucky for you, I like strawberry as a flavor, but I dont like real strawberries."

He carefully plucks the garnish off the top of the shake and extends it toward her. Half of a fresh strawberry, held between two fingers now tipped with whip cream.

Risa notes his discomfort and meets it. “I know you were, and thank you. I was simply…curious. Inquisitive mind and all.”

She raises a brow as Matt slides her milkshake towards his side and offers her the trimmed strawberry between strong fingers. It’d be easy enough to take the strawberry into her own grasp, but instead her nimble fingers find purchase on his wrist, floating at his pulse.

“So you don’t like pineapple? Or strawberries? Do you not like fruit?”

She leans in and meets his eyes for the briefest of moments. “More for me,” she shrugs and chuckles under her breath, before lowering her eyes and parting her full lips to gently take his whipped cream tipped fingers and strawberry into her mouth.

Matt's mind is working on a witty response when Risa's dark lips wrap around his fingers.

The move was not overtly sexual. Not really. But the warm, wettness causes a sensation that shoots straight from his fingertips to deep in his lower belly.

His mind goes completely blank. Had she asked something?

Just as she pulls away from Matt’s fingers, the waitress arrives to drop off their plates, waters, and his coffee. Risa nods her thanks and moves the platters in front of them.

“You still with me?” She asks with a smile; the smallest dab of whipped cream adorning the corner of her mouth.

"Bananas!" Matt blurts out a little too loudly, then looks around embarrassed.

He gives the waitress an awkward smile as his neck turns red, laughing at himself as soon as she walks away. "I like bananas. And apples. I know, I have the palette of a 12 year old."

"Sorry, you short circuited my brain there for a second. " He gives her a look that falls well short of innocent, the desire behind his eyes impossible to hide completely. Then his smile expands.

His hand moves to her face, his fingers brushing her cheek and curling just behind her jaw. Then he uses his thumb to brush the whip cream from the corner of her mouth.

The motion is much slower than it needs to be, Matt making little effort to hide that it is an excuse to touch her. Then he pulls his hand away and licks his thumb clean. "Mmm, you taste as good as you look."

Risa blinks at his sudden outburst. Bananas…? She had temporarily forgotten the last few questions she had asked him before taking his fingers into her mouth.

Then Matt caresses her face and licks the whipped cream off his thumb, and she feels the diner temperature go up 10 degrees.

The tip of her tongue reflexively licks the corner of her mouth, and she smiles, somewhat unsure of how to respond in the moment without climbing his lap in the back of a diner.

So instead, she focuses on her food: scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and two pancakes.

She takes the syrup and drizzles it over both the bacon and pancakes. Then grabs the glass ketchup bottle and starts shaking and tapping the side for her eggs and hash browns.

Risa groans when nothing comes out. “I really wish this place would just do the squeeze bottles, they’re so much easier.”

Without a second thought, she raises the bottle overhead, eyeing the opening and neck. “Is there even any…?”

Before she can finish her question, a gob of ketchup splats on her eyeglass lens and cheek.

Most of the coffee is caught by the hand Matt clasps over his mouth as he laughs uncontrollably. This girl was a mess. A beautiful, sweet, wonderful mess.

"Oh my god! For both of our safety, please just stop moving." He says with a laugh in his voice. Carefully he reaches across to slowly remove her glasses.

He cant stop smiling, but he can see the embarrassment on her face. Without a word he swipes the ketchup off her glasses with a finger, then smears a bright red line directly beneath his nose, ensuring he looks even more ridiculous than her.

Then he waves for the waitress to request extra napkins.

Risa is certain that her face is every shade of red that matches the ketchup on her cheek.

“I can’t believe I did that…” she says, laughing at herself.

When he carefully removes her glasses and swipes the ketchup across his upper lip, she just about loses it. “Oh my god, stop.” Genuine laughter superseding any level of embarrassment she’d normally feel.

Without missing a beat, their waitress drops off a stack of napkins and Risa grabs a few, wiping her cheek clean. With her free hand she cradles Matt’s face, bringing them closer.

“You’re ridiculous, you know that?” she says while laughing, and gently wipes off his ketchup mustache.

His eyes close a little longer than a blink when she cradles his face, and he draws a deep breath. The moment is somewhat spoiled by the cloying scent of ketchup, but he can't stop smiling.

"What do you mean? I'm just trying to keep up with the latest fashion trend. I hear all the cool people are wearing ketchup on their face this season."

A little reluctantly he goes back to eating his hash. A perfect combination of cheesy, greasy goodness. But he cant help reflexively wiping at his upper lip occasionally.

"As far as romantic gestures go, I'm only gonna rate that one a five. I'm gonna be smelling ketchup all night until I can give my face a proper wash with soap and water."

She takes a few bites of her eggs, ponders her next words, weighs them and the meaning they can carry, then decides to go with it.

In between bites, Risa carefully paces her invitation. “You can…wash your face…at my place? I’m just a few blocks away.”

She reaches past him and slides the milkshake between them and takes a healthy sip. “Mm, I forgot how good the shakes are,” she says with a sigh before clearing her throat and shaking her head. “And no pressure, of course. You could always wash up here, and we could walk somewhere else…”

It was all he could do to not immediately blurt out ‘Yes!’

Oh shit. This is really happening! Say yes! But don't sound too eager! Be casual. But not too casual. No, say something witty. But it's gotta be something sexy.

Sure. A casual, sexy joke that's also serious and not too eager. No pressure.

You're taking too long to answer. He takes a long sip of the shake to buy time as his mind searches for a response. Just say something! He swallows the pool of shake collecting in his mouth. She wasn't wrong, it was delicious.

“No. Let's go…” his brow furrows, and his voice gets a little strained. “...to your place. I'd"

His sentence cuts off abruptly as his eyes squeeze shut and his face grimaces. He presses his fingers to his temple and he begins muttering, “Ow, ow, ow ,ow”

Risa is steadily sipping their milkshake when he finally responds and she smiles, elated. Until she hears, ‘Ow, ow, ow, ow.’

She eyes him quizzically for a moment then quickly realizes what’s happening. “Open your mouth and blow air out like you’re warming your hands on a cold day. Like this,” she demonstrates for him to mirror, then places her hands on his forehead and cradles the base of his head and neck.

“When your tongue’s warmer flatten it against the roof of your mouth.” She smiles and continues, “Should help cut down the brain freeze time.”

He follows her instructions carefully, and quickly the pounding in his head begins to subside. As stupid as he feels, he can't help the swell of affection at her almost motherly care.

"Pretty smooth huh?" He says with a laugh, slowly opening his eyes. "I don't know how many years it's been since my last ice cream headache." He leans forward until their foreheads touch. "You're quite the caregiver."

"Not too late to change your mind. Now that you know I'm a man who can't handle his ice cream."

Risa shrugs with a laugh. “Younger siblings, many cousins, and several summers of freeze pops and firecracker popsicles. You pick up tricks.”

She nuzzles her forehead against his before pulling back, and places one of her hands on his lap.

“Change my mind? Oh, Matt, little do you know,” she drops her voice to a whisper. “Nothing, and I mean nothing, turns me on more than helping a grown man navigate an ice cream headache.”

She grins and takes a bite of bacon and pancakes reveling in the savory sweetness.

“Invitation still stands.”

Matt shifts noticeably when her hand lands in his lap. The whisper. The reference to being turned on. It was all boring its way to the core of his lizard brain which was getting harder and harder to keep under control.

He was hyper focused on the warm weight of her hand on his thigh. Too close.

There was a rapidly developing situation in his lap.

He felt a growing pressure. The sensation amplified by the current state of his boxers. A random fold resisting the slow expansion he was helpless to control.

He worried If he reached down to adjust himself now it would appear crude. But it was making it hard to concentrate. He parted his legs slightly, hoping the shift might help.

It didn't.

Stop squirming Matt.

Risa notices him shifting under her touch, but movement catches her eye and she looks up; her attention drawn away before she can even realize the situation in Matt’s slacks.

“Oh! There she is.” She lifts her hand from Matt’s lap and flags their waitress’ attention, motioning for the check.

“I’m not trying to rush us at all, but I figure having the check closed out just makes things easier for when we head out.”

She leans in to finish off the rest of their milkshake, sipping the remainder of strawberry goodness. When there’s nothing left, she upends the straw and brings the ice cream covered end to her mouth; her lips enveloping the plastic tube and drawing back as she licks it clean.

When she finishes, she places the straw back and glances at Matt who seems uncomfortable from how he’s shifting in his seat.

“Hey, you ok?”

As soon as she looks away Matt parts his legs farther. Turns his knee. Lifts one leg slightly. Anything to subtly shift the growing constriction of the fabric.

He watches her lips wrap slowly around the straw and the problem gets so much worse.

Finally he can't take it anymore and shooting a quick glance to his lap, reaches down to give himself a well practiced tug. The offending member is immediately freed, straitening against his right thigh. Much too his relief.

The movement takes only a second, but her question hits him just as he is moving his hand away. He looks up to find she is looking right at him again, and for what seems like the tenth time this evening his neck goes bright red.

His eyes snap back down guiltily, noting the now faintly visible ridge in his pants, before darting back up to hers.

"What?!" His voice is a little panicked. "No...Yes...I mean...I'm fine." He smiles nervously with some effort. "How are you?"

Risa blinks when he asks how she is then her eyes narrow, “Are you…sure? You don’t seem fine.”

As the waitress drops off their bill, she reaches for it then pauses as a seed of self doubt takes root. She glances at him and tries to gauge his response. “Is it about coming over? We really don’t have to. Like I said, we can go somewhere else.”

While her eyes are on him, she brings her arm back to look at the check and completely knocks over one of the glasses. Ice water races along the table and spills onto Matt’s lap.

“Shit! Oh my god, I’m so sorry!”

Risa’s brain goes on auto-pilot and she continues to apologize profusely. She takes the pile of extra napkins and quickly presses along his lap, higher and higher, following the drench pattern; then she freezes. Firm heat presses against her hand, rather insistently through the napkins, and even as realization hits, her fingers can’t help but reflexively curve around him as if for confirmation.

Say something witty, this is awkward. Just say something. His mind is racing for an answer less creepy than 'Please god, no. I want you.'

Then the shock of water hitting his lap wipes clean his line of thought. And before he can even react Risa's hands are working thier way up his leg.

"Wait...you...I'm" he stammers nervously, unable to form a sentence as her hands work higher.

No. She's getting too close. This is embarrassing. She's probably gonna be mortified.

He goes stock still when her hand finally reaches the source of his embarrassment. Frozen.

She doesn't immediately yank her hand away as expected, an he can't stop the shuddering intake of breath when her fingers curl around him, nor can he stop the whispered "oh fuck" that slips out of his mouth before he can clamp it shut.

The words come out shaky. Clearly a reflexive and visceral response.

He forces a sheepish smile. "Guess that answers your question?"
