Syria, what's the mission?

Warmongering socialists/progressives/Democrats and warmongering statists/conservatives/Republicans alike are really going to piss and moan when the day finally dawns - not too far away at all, in fact - when "boots on the ground" aren't needed at all.

Where do cockroaches scatter to when you turn on the lights?

:) interesting example. and using allegory, with cockroaches understandable. Who turned on the light? Judging by what has happened since the test tube presented to break the statehood of Iraq, then Afghanistan, then Libya, who constantly beat the light bulbs? :закатывать глаза:

Trump is not making decisions in a vacuum.
The rest of the world does nothing until violence reaches their Capitol...

If that is what passes for smart foreign policy,
then yes, all American Presidents are idiots playing checkers...

So there is still no reasons from the left as to why eternal war in the ME for no reason is something to support?

Not a single mission objective???

Imagine my surprise :)

Well, to be fair that's the only mention of Syria in that piece, but you still might want to read the entire article, maybe learn something.

Even that brief mention ties in with my thesis.

First of all we cannot "surrender" what we never had. Syrian has been a Soviet/Russian client state since the late 40's. The Soviets/Russia has had port privileges at Tartus since the early 1970's. Russia is NOT going to give up a Med. port without some push back. But, is that what this is all about? The US encouraged a civil uprising in Syria so as to push the Russians out of Tartus? Our support of the "rebels" didn't have a damn thing to do with that nasty dictator Assad, it was all about the naval base at Tartus?

Once again, Cold War mentality.

And as the article points out, Putin is wearing thin with the Russian people it seems. And don't forget, Russia is dying. Demographics bites every one in the ass over time.

It's all about the oil.

A senior U.S. official confirmed to ABC News that an idea being discussed at the Pentagon is keeping a mixture of U.S. troops and European partners close to the oil fields so that the fields do not become a target for the Syrian regime and their Russian military backers.
. . .
On Sunday, Trump tweeted about the U.S. troops who were close to the oil fields.

"USA troops are not in combat or ceasefire zones. We have secured the Oil," he tweeted.

In other words, all the talk about "ISIS" was a sham and now we're preventing Syria from getting access to its own oil fields.

Nice to know all those soldiers died protecting oil.

I think the plan is to keep the war machine going.

Blow things up, then make money "rebuilding" it...

Sorry about derailing the thread, I'll stop after this.

I just enjoy this alt hunting, it's fun.
They try to sound like someone else, but for me these are the give-aways:

- insults about men's height: not Luk, who isn't tall either. Must be Rob, who constantly brags about how tall he is.
- not the brightest posts: Luk.
:D

I've never used an alt here in my entire life.
I've never had any reason to use one.
I own up to my words, unlike, say, you 'n Que.
I've had over 50 threads calling me out because someone or other had a problem with something I've posted...it goes with the territory.
Just the other day Aglao called me out...surely you must remember it, you were one of the top 5 posters in it.

But I've never used an alt.

And I am almost a foot taller than Que.

...but that's not saying much.
