Swords, Sex and Sorcery (IC thread)

Kumio gave a slight shake of her head at the little scene going on with the half-naked catgirl. Becoming drunk in the middle of the day was not something she thought was a great display of conduct, thus the reason she stayed away from the stuff. She glanced down at her cup of tea for a moment, decided she had her fill of the stuff.

She felt a little bit of her time had been wasted so far, taking one last look around the tavern. She curled the side of her lip for a moment, making her way towards the door. She paused for a moment next to the door and turned, leaning back against the wall beside the door. The ruckus was dying down, so she closed her eyes to listen to the remainder of the patrons.

Lexy was in the process of following Kumio towards the group when she bumped into Scully, that same old smirk on his face. 'Butterfly' she had never had a nickname before, and she rather liked this one. "Good idea, I'll look after her." she assured him as she finished the gap to the group.

Tarik had his big arms around her, but she seemed quite happy. "Are you alright Kat?" she called up to her sweetly.

She noticed Kumio slip away, she was obviously raring to go, but it seems the group weren't in that much hurry. There would be plenty of places to explore soon enough. For now, she was worried about Kat.

Tarik shivered as Kat kissed his nose, felt himself stir beneath his skirt of mithril mail, and was taken in by her words utterly.

"Well, alright..." he rumbled, his deep voice reverberating in her body as he held her to his chest. "Now how do I put you down without displaying your bounty to every man in the room..? Though considering your dance, perhaps that is not something you are worried about..."

He chuckled, loudly, and looked around the room at the crowd whose mood was rapidly turning ugly.

"Though I do seem to have upset your admirers... this could turn into a good old fashioned brawl any moment."

He didn't look worried at the prospect, in fact he was grinning widely, and this close, Kat noticed something odd - his teeth seemed to include no canines. There were no gaps, but none of his teeth had even the slight sharp points of human eye-teeth.

"Got any ideas?" he asked, large brown eyes shining.

Scully looked over his shoulder at the gathering crowd who seemed rather put off by the interruption of their show. He'd been in enough bar fights to know that this was trouble. He looked back at Tarik. His voice would carry better and he seemed to know how to bark orders. "Tell them the next show is tomorrow night. The Amazing Kat and her scrawny, ponytailed friend or something like that. Use your imagination."

He pulled Lexi over quickly and once again pushed his shirt to Tarik. "We'll block the view, you get her covered up." He turned to face the crowd once again and realized this was not one of his better ideas. With that he turned to Lexi. "You're a druidess. I don't suppose you have some magic up your sleeve that would keep them amused?"

"I uh... the crowd... right..." Lexy stepped forward, looking at the mob who were gesturing their way, showing their disfavour at the untimely removeal of their evening's entertainment. Fighting a pack of wolves was easier than this! What was it about city crowds that got to her...

She stared out at them... before turning on her heels and returning to the group. "Nope, I got nothing. Give the word however, and I can make a smoke screen and we can slip away."

Kat’s brilliant smile lingered contently upon her plush lips, the look in those amber orbs smoldering with unspoken promises. Her fingers splayed out over his chest, over the metal as her nails playfully tapped against it. Her ears twitched slightly, though they remained focused ahead of her in Tarik’s direction. That soft, musically giggle escaped her lips as she arched her back a bit, rolling her shoulders in an easy shrug.

“You mean theses?” She said softly, offering a rather splendid view of those ripe swells, even offering a shake of her upper torso to cause them to jostle and sway. “You act as if this is the first time I’ve striped in front of a throng of men and women. Remind me to tell you of the time I barely escaped the city of El’Skimar with but my smallclothes and my sword.” Her eyebrows lifted and waggled slightly before she laughed all the same. Easily she hung in Tarik’s grasp, if Kat thought any respite from the looks her comrades took, or anyone else for that matter, she didn’t show it one bit. Lexy’s voice was heard above the din of the crowd, one ear perked towards her as she peered out from the protection embrace of Tarik.

“Oh hullo my sweetling!” Kat greeted the druidess cheerful, those amber pools dancing in the light. “I am doing purrfect…” She murmured and offered another wink before the fact that the crowd was growing rather angry caught the attention of those feline ears, causing them to twitch and fold back slightly.

“I think Snake has an idea there,” She said promptly, raising a hand to tap at her bottom lip for a moment. “Show them some of that thunder and bellow out a command. Even a gentle giant can be dominating when the need arises.” She began to wriggle slightly within his grasp, pulling herself up just as the shirt was thrust towards Tarik. With a snorting giggle Kat snatched it up and threw it over her head, stuffing the baggy shirt on until her ears poked through it and her hands wiggled into the armholes. “When was the last time you washed this thing?”

The shirt smelled much like Scully himself: of leather and wood smoke mostly. He made an effort to keep better grooming than most thieves, though laundry wasn't a terribly high priority when the strings on a purse were the only thing standing between you and not going to bed hungry. Consequently, he tended to pick up the odors of the leather armor he sometimes wore and currently had stored in his pack at the table as well as the smokey scent of all the city chimneys. "I happen to think I have a nice manly scent, thank you," Scully replied.

He noticed a few people in the crowd starting to disperse. Tarik's gigantic presence combined with Kat covering up again seemed to have convinced them it wasn't worth it, though plenty still looked irritated.

Tarik found Kat's wriggling very distracting as she climbed higher in his arms, bringing her freely displayed breasts up to his face...

His face hidden from most of the crowd, he flicked out his long, bovine tongue and ran it up her body between her breasts, then grinned as she slipped on the shirt, and lifted her up onto his shoulders.

"Alright, you rowdy bringers of shame to the loins of your fathers" he bellowed at the crowd. "The lovely lady has finished dancing for now, and if you cause a ruckus she might not dance again."

Diplomacy - 7 plus roll of 2, total 9... ooops

(A nine is not going to cut it, at all, so much so that the crowd is now classed as unfriendly, way to break it hero)

Some of the bar patrons went back to their drinks, mainly the ones who had women on their arms already, but the vast majority was still waiting for a resolution like the nice potential angry mob they were, all of them whispering and muttering amongst themselves as they guessed how they would fare if they forced the situation.

Tariks rather crude attempt at calming the crowd had the opposite effect as intended, all the booze that had been quickly consumed as a result of Kats dance was just starting to hit, and to them his words sounded mighty condescending, or at least it would have if they knew what that meant.

"Who are you to stop'er" called a voice, not one of the ones at the front, but it was all it took, the whole crowd quickly and verbally agreed, they wanted Kat, and they weren't too happy with no as an answer.

Zell nibbled on some more of his sweetroll as Nizzre laughed and gave her retort, she had come out of her shell quite a bit, he could just imagine her having been the sulking brooding thing she had been when they bumped in to each other for the entire trip over here, locked in her cabin, not playing nice with the other girls and boys... Basically what he did with less gambling and more naked breasts, he liked to imagine that scenario with those, it was more fun, probably a little wrong of him to be imagining her in various states of undress, but he was passing on whatever show was behind him for this, and its sounded like a good one.

"As long as there's no bells" Zell continued with a straight face "too loud, and it has to be black and white, I've got this whole monochrome thing going on here" he gestured to himself and the black leather he wore beneath his coat "don't know if you noticed, but I want to try and maintain that, it works for me."

Zell could hear the crowds calls, he didn't want to get involved, well, he did, but he knew he shouldn't, so he ignored it, though he did start to show a sign of notable irritation.

Kat

Kat felt that wet muscle against her frame, between the valley of those lush, ripe swells. Yet the shirt fell into place and for a moment, Kat regretted putting the shirt on. Tarik began his typical rant, yet to her surprise it didn’t seem to have much effect. Her ears perked forward and those amber eyes widened slightly.

“I dun think they took yer bluster seriously,” She muttered with a gulp, glancing back down at Scully who was nearby, along with Lexy. Her ears slowly folded against her fiery mane before a slow smile drifted out over that breathtaking visage.

“If it gets ugly dun worry, I got cha back!” She said merrily, before pushing herself closer. She had risen higher in his arms and managed to get her head about Tarik’s broad shoulder before she spoke rather loudly.

“Ya’ll better listen to him! They don’t call him Tarik the red for the fuzz on his face. I saw him rip a halfling between two fingers!” She said fiercely, though her words were nothing but a bold face lie, if only to Tarik and perhaps the others that had shared their table.

I am scaring myself. I am going to roll very poorly very soon. I can feel it..)

Nizzre

He went on and on about the hat, ah if only Nizzre knew that he had thought of her in various states of undress, just what would the Drowess do? For all the powers she might possess, the ability to read thoughts was not one and thus the drowses simply laughed again, the sound soft and musical despite the thickness of her accent.

“Oh but of course. We would not want to ruin your…” She trailed off, cocking a brow and screwing up her face as if she were trying to think of a proper word to describe it. Yet as she did the crowd seemed to get a little rougher, while the odd group seemed just as perturbed. The laughter died softly on her lips and she cast the tiefling a subtle glance before she shifted in her seat. Easily she took in the scene behind Zell, taking note of the locations.
< “A pitiful rabble.” > She retorted softly, slipping into the familiar undercommon if only to ensure no one understood her. < “With a strong wind and the right look they would piss themselves before drawing a blade.” > She scoffed at them, though her lips twisted subtly once again as she caught the tiefling’s eyes; perhaps a challenge, or perhaps seeing exactly what he thought of her judgement.

(Bluff: 19 + 11 = 30)

Hearing Kat's bluff, Scully decided to back her up. "I'd prefer to avoid that if we can. It's a bit difficult to explain to the city guards that you killed in self-defense when you're covered in that much blood." He made sure to say it loud enough that everyone would hear. "Remember the last time? You're just lucky the lieutenant and I had a history or I would have let the two of you sleep it off in the holding cell. This time around, I'll probably have to loot their bodies just to cover the bribes. I swear I can't take you anywhere without you putting a knife in someone's eyeball."

"Sorry, Kat." murmured Tarik. "But I might have a plan..."

With a grin, Tarik, pulled a simple pewter symol of a foaming tankard from pouch, the chain wrapped around a fist. He made a few passes with his hands and muttered a prayer to Cayden. Kat felt a burst of reassuring warmth subtly surround her and Tarik

"Very well." called the Asterion, his face like thunder. "One at a time, why don't you come and get her? Who's man enough?"

He drew himself up to his full height and stamped his hooves upon the wooden floor, before folding his well muscled arms across his chest and meeting the gaze of any man daring to step forward.

Kumio raised an eyebrow for a moment as she watched the group and the restless crowd. Tarik's attempt may have lost it's effect on pacifying the crowd, but Kat's made up for it. Her fingers twitched for a moment, a little eager to join. However she held herself back since she didn't believe she had any involvement, yet. Her eyes went towards the tiefling and hooded figure for a moment, noting their reactions.

"Simpletons."

She shifted her weight for a moment, gathering herself in case things decided to make their way towards her. She studied the crowd, attempting to gauge their actions.

Sense motive
16+4=20

(Sorry, they did hear the table talking earlier, you didn't sound like old friends, and the bluff is one hell of an unbelievable one, after all modifiers it came down to -15 on the check, the crowd rolled a 17, which means no aid another, which means no pass for the intimidate at DC20)

The combination of threats and bluffs appeared to be working at first, a few of them quickly made themselves scarce, Tarik was a good deal larger than almost all of them, and less impaired by the drink than any of them, but then some simpleton wised up. "Wait a minute" one of the smaller guys near the front made himself heard "you lot was introducing you selves earlier" the wave of realization rippled through the crowd, quite a few of them had been paying attention to that table thanks to its female patrons, but only a few of them had been listening as well as leering.

"Thats right" another one of them confirmed, whether he was speaking the truth in his mind or not though was anyone's guess "This lots lying!" the crowd was looking very riled up now, one more misstep and the whole situation would explode.

**********************************

Zell loosed a low growl, she was accepting that this was happening, so he might as well to <"one swing of that"> he nodded to his sword, an evil glimmer in his eyes <"and about three of them wont even get to do that"> he looked away from the sword and the glimmer died, he had to think of a better way... <"How good are you at controlling that darkness trick of yours?">

"Kat..." rumbled Tarik, not worried for himself but thinking his companions might get hurt. "Is there something up there you can grab? A handy roof beam you can sit on?"

"Scully... get Lexavier and the others up to the room you just arranged..." he grinned hugely. "Kat's dancing might be done, but it looks like they are playing my tune now..."

He faced the crowd again. "Cayden give me strength!" he bellowed, moving his hands in a complex gesture that ended with his hands pressed against each other, fingers pointing upwards, holy symbol clasped between them. For now, he trusted to Cayden's protection but should somebody be belligerent enough to get past that, he'd give them a tavern brawl to remember!

(casting Bull's strength)

"Fuck!" Scully cursed under his breath. "Figures we had an eavesdropper." He nodded to Tarik. Bar fights were ugly things. The best advice for winning them was to not get involved. He looked over at Lexi. "I don't suppose you could fill this room with fog?" Anything to confuse the crowd would buy them some more time to escape. He edged over and took up his pack in case he had to flee. One hand went to Katerina.

Kat

“What’s more handy that a floor to stand on?” Kat quipped lightly as she sat perched on Tarik’s broad shoulder. Those amber pools glinted lightly as they fell upon the gathering crowd. She was never one to turn down a fight and it seemed for all their efforts that’s where it was leading. With a sigh she slid off of Tarik’s shoulder and landed onto the floorboards with a huff. Her tail snapped out behind her irritably, while one hand drifted out over the hilt of her scimitar. “You had your chance,” She said softly, a look of pity upon those beautiful features. “ I won’t leave my friends to fight my battles. If they want so desperately to see me dance then I shall give them a dance.”

Nizzre

Nizzre’s lips twitched once more, her gaze holding Zell’s easily. < “As good as any. Say where and I can cover most of this room in it.” > She retorted softly, her fingers dancing across the table before one disappeared underneath the folds of her cloak for a reassuring touch of Elghinn.

<”As much as I hate to interfere, they're ruining my sweetroll, that’s unacceptable”> Zell slowly stood up, removing his coat as he did and leaving it on the table, he struck a more menacing pose without it <”kill the lights for the whole room”> he said, using the other group as cover so nobody paid attention to him as he retrieved his sword <”drop it when you think its thematically appropriate, we're going for a dynamic entry here.”> He held the sword at his side and got ready to move as soon as the lights went out.

Scully was angry with himself. Not just for failing to talk his way out of a bad spot like he usually did. But for the fact that he now couldn't retreat. Tarik and Kat were going to stand their ground and he wasn't about to stab them in the back by running away. Despite the fact that he was shirtless and unarmored, he drew Katerina and a second dagger. Katerina he held in a high guard while the mundane blade was held in front defensively. He began to bob and sway, his torso and head moving to unusual rhythms. His style was to fight defensively, waiting for opportunities to strike out and catch them unawares. A quick glance around the room told him that he was faster and more agile than most of the men present.

"I've got your backs," he said with a note of finality. "I call first dibs on looting the bodies." He said it like a joke, but he was probably going to do exactly that anyway should the opportunity present itself.

Kumio chose the right spot to take everything in. She studied the impeding fight carefully, scanning the crowd. She thought it was just going to be a bare-fisted brawl, but it looked like the group just escalated it to beyond that. She glanced towards the bar to see the barkeep ducked back into the kitchen with the rest of the staff.

She gave a little nod, since it wouldn't be right to involve innocents. She was cold, but not heartless. She was in the clear, since the crowd was more focused on the others than her. She slowly drew her wakazahi and shifted her hand so the blade was hidden by her forearm, blunt side up. She was not going to kill anyone, not yet at least. She gave a slight smirk, seeing the tiefling get up as well.

Tarik noticed that his allies were all reaching for weapons.

"Put the damned blades away! Haven't you ever been in a tavern brawl before?"

He laughed. "There is an ettiquette to this dance. Nobody draws steel, and nobody dies. Fists, tankards, even tables and chairs, all for the joy of the fight - but anybody drawing steel is asking for the whole damned crowd to turn on them!"

He raised his fists into a brawlers pose, and waited for the first man to make a move towards him.

(Readied action - unarmed attack)

"Come on then!" he roared, a huge grin on his face.

Scully couldn't believe what he was hearing. Someone makes a fist at you, and you draw a knife. Fair fights were for chumps and dead men. Nevertheless, he sheathed his blades and took Kat and Lexi by the arms, backing them up with him behind Tarik. "Chuckles, you better be able to back up that boast."

He mentally filed away the fact that his display meant his story of being a nothing more than a humble street performer would be revealed for the damned lie that it was. When this was over, he'd have some explaining to do. "If they rush him and get the upper hand, flank them and pick them off," he muttered to the women under his breath. "Butterfly, if it comes to that, see if you can give us some kind of a distraction. Like I said, fog or maybe a swarm of birds pecking their faces or something. Whatever it is druids do."

This.. this was the reason she didn't like city people. Too much alcohol and too much testosterone meant these simple cityfolk were riled up and ready to fight. Still, she was not afraid to defend herself. She knew Tarik could probably take care of himself, but there was a lot of people and they would all be aimed at him.

She hoped Kumio was ok, she seemed close to the door when Lexy last spied her...

Scully took her arm, and she glanced across at Kat, making sure she was with them as well. "You better get your ass away, Tarik. I haven't spent the last couple of hours getting to know you, only to have you injure yourself saving face." She yelled. She was sure it wouldnt take much for the tension to snap and the fight to begin, she just hoped desperately that it wasnt this.....

With an Elven chant and a flick of her fingers, a heavy fog begins to extend, surrounding her and growing. It fills 20ft in all directions, and completely obscures anyone standing 5ft away. "It'll only last a few minutes, we go now..." she hushed, tugging at Scully and Kat....

Nizzre

With a soft snort Nizzre simply nodded her agreement. She swept from her seat gracefully, barely disturbing the chair in the process. She did not reach for Elghinn, at least just yet. Her left hand rose and soft, spidery words filtered past those sweet lips as she gestured almost lazily. It seemed just as the fog began to roll out of nowhere that the lights of the tavern sputtered and went out entirely. Darkness engulfed them, centered on the bulk of the crowd and expending twenty feet in all directions. She moved, silent as a shadow, finding her spot beside the tiefling as those crimson orbs bore through the darkness, though that fog was another matter entirely.

Kat

The catfolk huffed sharply, though her hand did not draw from her weapon.

“I never draw my blade unless I mean to use it. Even then it is my fist. You cannot fight without your hand, your arm can you?” Kat insisted, though she was distracted by the hand on her arm. She almost turned to strike, though when she saw that dark hair and nose she instantly recognized Scully. Lexy was close too, much to her surprise and gratitude. That tail snake flicked out as sought Lexy even as the darkness enveloped them. She reached for Scully, grasping at his bare arm as she let out a rather pitiful mew.

“I didn’t do that.”

Scully didn't have much experience with magic. He knew that priests got it from the gods and the druids got it from the lands and that bards had some trickery or another... But magic like this? He had never before in his life seen this before. Kat denied having done it. And he rather doubted Lexi had done. "Tarik? Xarkl? I think this might be a sign we've out-stayed our welcome."

Still holding onto the two women's arms, he started moving them toward the stairs, or at least the direction he believed them to be in. He pulled Lexi flush against him so that he could stay aware of where she was while he reached into his pocket. He drew the amulet from his pouch that he usually kept hidden. He slipped it around his neck and prepared himself. It was the only piece of magic he had or knew how to use. It could provide a distraction at a crucial moment if one was needed.

He once again laced his fingers with those of the two women and continued backing away. "Who the hell is behind this magic?" he growled in frustration.
