RECRUITING NOW CLOSED, BUT OPEN TO EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR FUTURE KNOWLEDGE.

This is a casting call to anyone who would like to take part in a thread using a loose version of pathfinder/DnD3.5 (some rolls can be skipped to keep things running smoothly) This is a thread I've run in the past with some good success until various real life complications got in the way. Hopefully this time life stays simple enough that it doesn't implode.

The Story So Far:
For three generations the lands of Alora have been locked in the grips of war, a petty feud that escalated out of control and engulfed all the known lands, with even the other continents taking the opportunity to strike at the outlying kingdoms. But for the first time in almost 500 years, there is an emperor, and through blood and steel he has brought an uneasy peace to the land, many are unhappy about this, mostly warlords who had carved out their own empires that they now couldn’t control, but for the most part things were looking up.

This sudden peace had the problem of leaving many a professional soldier out of work, sure there was always call for such people, but in the wake of war there were simply too many people with far too few jobs. The emperor, in his infinite wisdom, solved this before his rise to power, using an invention that had come about during the war, a mighty airship, to send an expedition across the sea to find the lost lands of Rania.

Now that the war has been over for almost two years, the expedition has returned, with proof that Rania is more than just some fable in ancient scrolls. The trip had been measured in years for them, but thanks to improvements in the design of airships the journey there would take just over a month. So now every sellsword and glory hound with a few gold to buy the ticket it takes to board an airship is on his way to Rainia and their chance to become a legend and retire on a bed of gold.

I got good timing. Heya KoD! Use to have the username Hotkittygirl.

Just came back and saw this. Count me in! :cattail:

Since I gave the original a try and have some nice memories of it I would be willing to overcome my usual aversion against group threads and join in once again.

Here's to an obstacle free real live for KoD. :)

As I already PM'ed to KoD, I have some experience with pathfinder and D&D 3.5 so I am interested in joining this adventure :)
Looking forward to meeting you all ^^

Well, I have the feeling interest is not a problem for this story ^^
In D&D a typical group often exists out of 4 elements: A fighter type, an arcane caster, a divine caster and a sneaky bastard ^^ but often a group can get away with any combination of people as long they (and their story teller/DM) know their weaknesses and strengths.

Fighter types: Fighter, Barbarian, Monk, Ranger (Paladin, Cleric, druid)
Arcane casters: Sorcerer, Wizard, Bard
Divine casters: Cleric, Druid, Paladin
Sneaky baster: rogue, bard

Pathfinder has a few more roles that I don't have enough experience with to fit in one of the categories but most important is to play a type/role you enjoy most.

I think my preference goes to either an arcane caster or the divine one, but that depends as well on what KoD plans to do with rules and the story ;)

Figured that was you, you have rather distinctive post formatting. Good to see you again and I cant wait to play with you again as well.

Glad to know we can coax you in to a group thread when we have to, and thanks for the toast, my life is rarely as bland as I wish it was sometimes.

May I also join this party? What positions are open in this expedition?

Any and all currently.

Pathfinder is way easy, there's a lot of options if you go far enough down the rabbit hole, just a couple of days ago I was playing around with a build that relied on throwing magically charged playing cards for decent damage. But that's all optional stuff, and base classes are just as fun to play as weird out there tricks.

As for what I plan to do with the rules and the story, the rules I plan to use as a guideline, for the most part I'll expect people to role play as what they've built, if you strut around sweet talking all the ladies and you have stupid CHA for example, then there's no problem, do the same when you have CHA 8 and no skills, then we need to talk. Actual rolls will happen at important points, like when you talk to a king, or when you fight someone who possess some level of challenge.

The story on the other hand, well you don't really know whats going to happen there yet.

Perhaps, I can begin by asking if the wants the group to also crew the airship.?

No, the airship is crewed by NPCs, and is mainly a plot thing to get you to where the story will begin. You may try to get yourself an airship at some point, but it wouldn't be possible for a starting character to afford one.

Woot. Glad I could be found out so easily...I think...

Anyway. Looking forward to it. Here's hoping life isn't such a bitch this time. Will keep my imagination in check till I hear about the starting creation for the characters.

And that build with the card throwing is actually decent. Had a friend try it out at the table one time.

Just to help the others with their planning, in any sort of ERP setting I am mysteriously drawn to the Monk class.

The lovely Katt D. Claw once labelled me the "naked she beast". :)

It fit perfectly then and I am sure it will fit again. I have absolute faith in that!

Monk is pretty hot as far as classes go, the fact that they can be one hundred percent effective while buck naked is just a plus.

It's already getting good and we haven't started. So sexy monk is taken.

Still seeing just what my mind can create that I already haven't done. Hmmmm.

Darn, I am all seen through already... One Bordello Brawl upcoming...

God, I can just see that now... You have successfully defeated the possessed whore, the loot drops are a +1 corset of support, a gem encrusted comb worth 100 gp and the 10 gold you just gave her.

I like the brawl idea. I can see it now as well. Sounds like a blast...

and wait...celibate? WAT? Who do I look like to you??

I think back in the day of 3.5 I made a Wu-jen catfolk that as part of their spellcasting they had to have sexual intercourse to regain their spells, or it increased her spells potency. That was too far back to remember everything. But still an interesting idea.

Sex empowered magic is a concept I endorse completely.

There's also the option of playing a summoner and having a lovely assistant, or a synthesist and being some kind of sexy monster thing, haven't seen either in one of these threads yet.

Hmm. Both ideas are pretty awesome. The syth is a pretty scary thing when done properly. They won't even let people play that archetype in the Pathfinder Society play.

Yes now the ideas are bubbling forth...burble burble.
