Saw a contest for a sword and sorcery story submission but I got to get all the horny ideas out beforehand.

For sword and sorcery: think more Conan and not lord of the rings. Magic is there but it’s dangerous and almost always used by the corrupt. The strongest hero needs to be clever and the most clever hero needs strength to stay alive. Stories also tend to be episodic and relatively short

An idea to get started:

MC is hired by a sorcerer to bring them “the jewel of the night matrons” MC goes and finds the jewel rather easily but then finds the matrons: monstrous women who cannot be slayed by blade or flame and regularly impale those who intrude upon them.

Course, there’s a different way to “slay” someone and a gentle caress might have a much greater impact than the tip of a sword.

I have a S&S story in the works; getting repurposed for the Halloween contest.

Is there an upcoming sword & sorcery story challenge/contest for lit?

I've got plans for a whole series based on my MMC from A Ruckus in River's Bend. Very Conan-esque.
A weird west series too. I just need to get about a zillion other stories done first.

We discussed the possibility last year: https://forum.literotica.com/threads/the-sword-sorcery-appreciation-thread.1624840/

One big problem is agreeing on a definition.

For what it's worth, I love S&S and quite a few of my SF&F stories are (by my definition) S&S.
First off, that was a very smart, informative and interesting thread; everyone in it really knows their stuff about S&S and S&S adjacent stories.

As far as definition, I feel that sword & sorcery is such a wide net, I can see it covering all the subgenres of S&S mentioned there (even those terrible Gor novels).

I would just let the voters (if it's a contest, not a challenge) decide; if someone writes a great S&S story, but then it turns out that it's just a WestWorld style theme park, where all the monsters are actually just robots and the sorcery is just high-tech bullshit, it might still lose because it's kind of cheating and misrepresenting the genre. Or not.

But there's the thing: it wouldn't be a contest. Those are organised by the site, and there are already six every year. I really doubt they're going to add another.
