I don't think it's at all uncommon to find that a person who has fantasies of being dominant or top in bed is passive in their everyday public life. Similarly it's not uncommon that a person who is very in control in their public life, would gravitate towards be a submissive or bottom in their private life.

Labeling yourself as a dominant or a switch or submissive might be useful to communicate your interests, desires and feelings to someone, but it's not required that you pick a label and stick to it. The role you play, or are interested in playing can change dependant on a huge number of factors.

Actually, I believe it's generally agreed upon by many experts in the study of human sexuality that more often than not people who live and work with a more dominate demenour in their social lives, often play a more submissive role in the bedroom. The same also applies with passive personalities becoming aggressive or dominate during intimate periods. I know that when socialising with others I'm generally a fairly passive individual and dominate behind closed doors. I'm sure Freud talked quite a bit about this and why we develop roles with our partners, but alas, I'm not familiar with any particularities.

I'll agree with that sentiment whole-heartedly. Sometimes the more extreme Subs/Doms can leave a bad taste in one's mouth. I find there to be a somewhat elitist attitude a few people have developed. Switches may seem to get the short end of the stick at times because others may simply feel they have yet to commit themselves to one side or another.
