Yeah, I swing...

Actually, I am a swing dancer.... and you wouldn't BELIEVE how 'friendly' many members of that community are.

No, I'm not, but I'd love to take lessons. I've always wanted to have a boy who would go out dancing with me, but it would help if I knew how to do it, first, probably.

I do not swing sexually but

I do know how to cut up a rug from time to time. Something about the 40's music. Perhaps I have to give credit to my father who fought in WWII that taught me how to dance to this music. Funny thing is he never taught me to be lead but to simply enjoy dancing to it all. I have to admit it has been a difficult habit when I dance with a man, far and few in between, that seriously knows how to swing dance.

Peace,
Tulip

Anytime you want

my little brother. The last time in the city the Super Club was hip hop and not the jazz. I am sure there are nights it is back to jazz and the cost is usually $40.00 or lower to get in. Sounds like another good get together. Otherwise the two of us can go and just let the feet do its thing. Talk to ya soon about it when you are ready to try.

Peace,
Tulip

I'm not that good but my boyfriend (in scotland), is pretty smooth. he does lindy, balboa, charleston, six beat, boogie woogie. if any of you are in scotland (specifically edinburgh) you should look him up (for a ton of reasons :p)

I can't dance. Not fast, anyway. I can slow dance, and I can learn anything that has steps, but I absolutlely suck at improvising.

Muffie knows West Coast Swing. Or did.

Muffie doesn't swing sexually.

Muffie finds referring to herself in the third person to be vastly irritating and thought she would share the sensation. You're welcome.

:)

What is West Coast swing?

Anybody can dance if they put their mind to it. The first thing is just to have fun with it all.

Peace,
Tulip

i do both. i love swing dancing, i do a lot of the aerials that everyone is afraid of. tis so very much fun. swing dancing can also be made very naughty. i wish that there were more swingers in my area though (both meanings).

Superlilgirl -- PM me with what city you're in, I'll recommend a good lindy hop instructor. I know good ones in almost every city in the US (and a decent number outside of the US).

Actually, that goes for anyone else who's interested in getting into swing dancing. Myself, I love Lindy, can do Collegiate Shag, sometimes am good at Balboa, can fake West Coast, and know a bit of Carolina Shag.

Ever since that scene exploded with the concept of Lindy Exchanges, there's been a fair bit of the other 'swinging' going on as well. It's generally a great community to be involved with, though -- if you've ever wondered about dancing, I highly recommend it. You'll have a blast.

All Reet!

I grew up watching my Parent's cut a rug, gettin' some skin almost daily. Benny Goodman, Tommy/Jimmy Dorsey, songs like "Sentimental Journey" and "Chatanooga <sp?> Choo-Choo." I still can listen to it for hours, and my parent's still get up and cut a rug every so often, keeps them young at heart! :D

I took swing dancing lessons with my ex, but I didn't learn as much as I could have on my own because my ex had two left feet and we had to take it slowly. I would love to take lessons again- I've always found swing dancing fun.

In August, I was in Florida and one of my sister's male friends took my younger sister and I out. He was a decent swing dancer and we had lots of fun dancing.

Just dancing, you pervs.
