That's great SS' I drew with a #2 pencil on book paper for years. it was a real treat to find a sheet of typing paper, (no lines). I did'nt really use drawing paper and softer lead until College, much less charcoal.

I find charcoal fun to use... But I am still very much a pencil kinda guy.

the morning sun here is perfect.. the lighting is just spot on

The moring sun in that room was perfect for great pic taking. I've yet to find the same here. ~sighs~ One of these days I will have another place with the perfect exposure for morning pics!

Glad you found your pencils. I need new ones. My son has a friend that is a very good artist with lots of raw talent and from an environment that can't afford nice paper or pencils. I gave him the new pencils I had just bought and a new pad. You would have thought I gave him $1,000,000.00 He had never had that before, he drew with an old school pencil and scrap paper ...

It would be even "funner" if I had a head and some high heeled shoes in the picture

Aren't you sweet! Art supplies are very expensive. I have to admit I don't have the extra bucks right now to rush out and replace all the good supplies I have stored in my storage shed. I will have to wait til I can unearth them I think. I had just bought a whole new set of watercolor brushes and new paints year before last too. But since I moved they have been all packed up.

I got hooked on color pencils a few years back. I used to use conte crayons alot too. I might have to try some charcoal on the next art contest......I still don't have anything conjured up in my head yet.

I loved the way that shawl worked in photos so I took several series using that. I even used it yesterday in my portrait shots with the flowers. Those pics to be coming up shortly as soon as I get them resized.

I need plenty of north eastern window light for the morning sun and lots of trees and a nice open space with rich black dirt for my garden....oh yeah and don't forget the creek!

what medium do you prefer?

pencils both color and black. I like those wide flat ones for shading too. Also love watercolors, but they are hard to master for people. I do ok with animals and backgrounds with them though. Of course there's my photography and photoshop too......do they count?
