Sweeping away fives

Well, my afternoon is free.
You'll have to hurry up and get over here, otherwise you won't be stationed in the bushes when I leave for work in half an hour. ;)

Hard to say what has caused some of my stories to drop. It's a mystery to me. Comments are often far opposed to votes with my smut. :D

Wish they'd sweep the zero on one of my stories put there by an anonymous who left a strange comment. Ah well, even the deranged get to vote.

Yeah, they went through and dropped duplicate votes apparently- and didn't clear the one votes, which is what we really need. I just went through all the top lists- the highest score was a 4.95, and in some categories, a 4.7.

Do you realize how bad that is?

Don't feel bad. My best scoring story got one low vote (that I know of). An anonymous commentor (actually I know who it was) gave me a 2 (25%) for the "avalanche of spelling mistakes that made the story unreadable". I had two editors take another look at the story (plus I did a complete read-through), and none of us could find a single mistake (eventually one reader let me know I used the word 'site' instead of 'sight' one time out of a 30,000 word story. Go figure.

BTW Ted, another thing to consider on the votes is that a lot of people vote, then post a comment. The comment score doesn't show up for about 8 hours (I've tested it). I'm not sure if the computer records both or not, but whichever is cast first is the one counted (a lot of people are under the assumption that only the vote counts or that you can vote afterwards and it cancels out the comment score). If the computer accidently counts both, that could be the source of the duplicates.

Of course it would be more exotic to have a stalker (especially a happy, perfect score-giving one), so that's probably what it is. :D

I swear I've got somebody trying to go in and put fives back on swept stories. I've watched some stories go up and down by single five votes about three times the last two days.

Vote once, dagnabbit! If you want to give me another vote, send somebody else my way to read the story, and have them do it on their own computer ;)

Seeing duplicate votes vanish is more depressing than never getting them at all. Especially when a story is hovering at that magical 10 vote barrier.

Interesting day. I started two threads, and threadjacked them myself.
I may have to hand the "Tangent Crown" over to you...One more of your own threads and you have me beat hands down...As it stands I'll have to share ;) :p

And I have to agree, with an avatar like that how can you not have stalkers?
Who's admired the AV from afar but never spoke up as I'm a guy...
