The flood of mass immigration into Sweden has become so great that politicians are now talking about the need to build entirely new cities to house the hundreds of thousands of newcomers.

Worry about your own house, pumpkin.
There you at least arguably have a clue as to what's going on.
We handle ours.
I'm sorry, do you have friends, family and business in Sweden?LOL that's rich coming from you.
Just going by what your comment showed.Pffft LOL.
Yea ok....
I'm sorry, do you have friends, family and business in Sweden?
And you claim that you're not a racist?
Only place I can think of called that is in Helsinki, Finland. Most of my moms side of the family is still there, mostly up around Gammelstaden.
Only because you seem uninformed about it. This city planning nonsense has, as I pointed out, sod all to do with immigration. It's yet another attempt att adressing a decades old housing problem brought on by urbanization. But that's not what I meant.
I was pointing out that you have no problem discussing American politics but tell me to mind my own when discussing yours.
"That", as in building separate communities to house immigratnts, isn't what's being tried here. The article gets it Breitbartastically wrong, because reasons. Some thoughts on the subject.
First of all if that were tried here the cries of segregation would be heard from coast to coast, and with good cause because that's exactly what it is. Further the French did the same thing long ago, model cities of government built housing for the Muslim immigrants they started taking in back in the 70's. They are now virtual slums into which no non-Muslim dare enter.

Isn't Sweden also concerned about Climate Change?
So they import 3rd world cultures with high birthrates in to a high resource 1st world nation?
political ponzi scheme > climate change
Got it!
And you obviously have no clue as to the meaning of that word you throw around so casually.

You're the expert on that word, you should explain it to the rest of the board.

My main reason for discussing American politics is because it's ubiquous as well as entertaining and I'm a civics nerd.
Immigration is a contributing factor, but not a majority factor. Fact is we're between 1 - 1,5 M short when it comes to residence in the three major big city regions, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö/Coperhagen. In a country of 9 M, that's a shitton. And if we get to it, a lot of pent up demand is expected to snowball that ongoing shift further.Really? I went back and read what you had to say on the subject, fine.
Fact;
As of 2015 85.8% of Sweden's population was Urban/Suburban out of a total population of just under 10 million. By 2025 the urban/suburban population was expected to grow by 1.5%, or roughly 143,000 individuals. A number that would require somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 to 100 thousand new housing units over the next ten years, or 10 thousand per year.
Now, the Breitbart article says that Sweden is taking in 163,000 immigrants in this year alone. That's considerably more than the projected demographic shift projected over a 10 year period.
So exactly who is all of this new housing being built for?

This is due to a rapid transition from small town industrial- and natural resource-economy in the 60's, to big city service and tech economy in the 90's. But a lot of political gridlock, along with regulation in bad need of modernization and just some plain ol' corruption has stalled urban development for generations, which is half a century behind it's times. This in turn holds back everything from business investments to higher education. We have the Bernie Sanders plan here -- tuition free college for everybody, but students have to bow out of the education of their choice because they have nowhere to live, except back in the depopulating countryside.
It's the pet issue I have been shoputing at local politicians at for years now. Even considered running for city assembly office (I live in Stockholm) on a "build some motherfucking highrises already" platform a few years back.
It's a microscopic town outside of Lulea, way north almost in Finland.
I went there once when I was 10, met a bunch of strangers that I'm related to and had to leave just as I started to feel comfy.
It was stunning and I've always wanted to go back again, I just have too much shit to do.
