Sweden to build whole new cities to house immigrants

The flood of mass immigration into Sweden has become so great that politicians are now talking about the need to build entirely new cities to house the hundreds of thousands of newcomers.

Instead of worrying about lies and fascist propaganda about Sweden, worry about this.

Yeah, there is evidence everywhere that the NAZIs are about to make an immediate and impactful comeback.

It just depends on how many rocks one overturns. For most Leftists, that is simply too much work...

I'm sorry, do you have friends, family and business in Sweden?

Most of my moms side of the family is still there, mostly up around Gammelstaden.

But that's not what I meant.

I was pointing out that you have no problem discussing American politics but tell me to mind my own when discussing yours.

Some thoughts on the subject.

First of all if that were tried here the cries of segregation would be heard from coast to coast, and with good cause because that's exactly what it is. Further the French did the same thing long ago, model cities of government built housing for the Muslim immigrants they started taking in back in the 70's. They are now virtual slums into which no non-Muslim dare enter.

The Swedes really have no choice in this matter. The have to have, or at least they think they have to have, all of these 'immigrants' to prop up their diminishing tax base required to prop up their cradle to grave socialism. A policy that has led to fertility rates that are incapable of sustaining their society. At the same time they know that they are importing criminals that are immiscible with their society. As an example, up until the 2005-6 time frame the EU nations reported criminal activity broken down by ethnicity and citizen v. immigrant status. This breakdown was ultimately prohibited by the powers that be in the EU, the reasoning being that it was 'discriminatory.' As if criminals aren't discriminated by their very actions. Be that as it may it turned out that 80% of ALL rape/sexual assault cases were perpetrated by Muslim immigrants, immigrants that only constituted 3% of the population at that time. (I provided links to that data back then, obviously they're all dead now.) Even though the public reporting of those statistics ended long ago the population AND the government are quite aware of the facts in their own country. I presume that this effort on the part of the Swedes is an attempt to prevent, or at least forestall, an electoral backlash. The political elites just can't seem to come to grips with the fact that in the attempt to preserve their culture they're sowing the seeds of its destruction.

Only place I can think of called that is in Helsinki, Finland.

Only because you seem uninformed about it. This city planning nonsense has, as I pointed out, sod all to do with immigration. It's yet another attempt att adressing a decades old housing problem brought on by urbanization.

My main reason for discussing American politics is because it's ubiquous as well as entertaining and I'm a civics nerd.

"That", as in building separate communities to house immigratnts, isn't what's being tried here. The article gets it Breitbartastically wrong, because reasons.

You just killed Ish's anti-Muslim xenophobe boner.

And after all the work he put into that exposition, too...*sobs* :D

Really? I went back and read what you had to say on the subject, fine.

Fact;

As of 2015 85.8% of Sweden's population was Urban/Suburban out of a total population of just under 10 million. By 2025 the urban/suburban population was expected to grow by 1.5%, or roughly 143,000 individuals. A number that would require somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 to 100 thousand new housing units over the next ten years, or 10 thousand per year.

Now, the Breitbart article says that Sweden is taking in 163,000 immigrants in this year alone. That's considerably more than the projected demographic shift projected over a 10 year period.

So exactly who is all of this new housing being built for?

Isn't Sweden also concerned about Climate Change?
So they import 3rd world cultures with high birthrates in to a high resource 1st world nation?

It's all about 'taxpayers' dude, nothing more. Our reason is Social Security.

The thought that the politicians aren't going to have enough money to dictate how we live our lives terrifies the shit out of them.

political ponzi scheme > climate change

Got it!

The hubris is beyond belief. "We're going to save the planet." Get a clue sparky, the planet will still be here long after we're gone.

They have to build some houses. They imported all these Muslims and had polls saying 1/3 of the residents of their country would happily welcome a refugee into their homes. They can't pay people to house refugees.

It's a microscopic town outside of Lulea, way north almost in Finland.

I went there once when I was 10, met a bunch of strangers that I'm related to and had to leave just as I started to feel comfy.

It was stunning and I've always wanted to go back again, I just have too much shit to do.

Oh about the housing project yea, I don't give a shit enough but it sounds about right so I bought it because it gave me a reason to piss on globalist douchery.

Yea but the topic of immigration was brought up and I decided to toss my 2 cents in because I'm an American asshole.

Fair enough I suppose.

Immigration is a contributing factor, but not a majority factor. Fact is we're between 1 - 1,5 M short when it comes to residence in the three major big city regions, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö/Coperhagen. In a country of 9 M, that's a shitton. And if we get to it, a lot of pent up demand is expected to snowball that ongoing shift further.

This is due to a rapid transition from small town industrial- and natural resource-economy in the 60's, to big city service and tech economy in the 90's. But a lot of political gridlock, along with regulation in bad need of modernization and just some plain ol' corruption has stalled urban development for generations, which is half a century behind it's times. This in turn holds back everything from business investments to higher education. We have the Bernie Sanders plan here -- tuition free college for everybody, but students have to bow out of the education of their choice because they have nowhere to live, except back in the depopulating countryside.

It's the pet issue I have been shouting at local politicians at for years now. Even considered running for city assembly office (I live in Stockholm) on a "build some motherfucking highrises already" platform a few years back.
