Every once in a while, you encounter a voice that is not pretentious, but genuine; simple, but not lacking complexity; plain, but not lacking color; et cetera.

Such a voice is that of swallowedscream. A voice so clear and direct that at times I find myself, now that I have encountered it, copying it, without realizing it. I've often thought that the sign of a great poet ... having a voice that I copy! lol...

Like this phrase, from one of her un-commented-upon poems:

"I crawl into myself-
deeper than you can touch,
so I don't mind so much when you don't try."

Aren't you jealous, that you didn't write that? Come on, be honest!

She respects cliché without fearing it. I admire this poet, and am interested in what others here think.

;) Does she know we're gonna be here fawning :p over her foehn?

It may be easier for the lazy to click a link: swallowedscream.

The main thing with reading a poet as prolific as this lady, in a large dose, is that it's hard to sort through and discover the true gems. Submitting 40 poems in 5 months means that the average rate of submission's around 2 a week. A nice pace if you follow from the beginning, overwhelming if you're just discovering a poet.

That's my lazy take.

I've read (and I think, recommended) this poet's work prior to today, much of which is tasty and as you say, an original turn on even those clichéd standbys occassionally found in her writing. Yes, a poet with a strong voice and an interesting view.

very good point, foehn.

Champ makes one too.

and in all my wallowing around over there, I've never seen a comment from her, on anything.

so how do we know it isn't pure chance, luck?

but continue on, other examples if you wish.

She's shy, and sometimes her comments have appeared under a pseudonym, "Anonymous."

But I suppose I really should point out one of my favorites, huh?

I suppose I could say that the first one that caught my eye was, I Fall which not too long ago, had living voice applied to it.

But there are many others. Yes, there are.
