Survivor FAQ: Surviving the Confusion

I do!

I pmed you, but since someone might have the same questions, I will ask it here.

1) I take it we aren't posting our scorecards for all to see like contestants did last year?

2) You had the 5 point bonus for 10 stories in a category listed in the poem categories as well. Since the poem limit is 6 poems per category, does that mean if we write 4 additional unscored poems we will get 5 bonus points?

So we can get 12 points for the poetry category, plus the additional 5 bonus points for having 10 total, correct?

Oh one more thing... (this should be the last one..)

We don't put the stories or poems on our score card until they have actually been accepted and posted, correct?

You can maintain it however you choose. If you want all the categories on it, by all means! If you do not, don't put them there. There is a template you can use, but you don't have to if you don't like it. It's your scorecard.

The only rule is that immunities must be tracked to include the category they're used in.

The only thing I ask is that you make it easy for me to figure it out and find the total points on the fifth of January next year! I have to go through all of them as well as do random checks to maintain accuracy in accounting, as it were.

Help

Dear KM,

Not sure how the score card works. I am still a virgin yanno.

1. I will be notified by PM of the points i get per entry? or?

2. ON the immunity i have til the following tuesday to get it posted to the category?

3. Do i write all the categories on my scorecard?

4. And is it my own thread or are we all combined onto one:S.

5. And the question on the entry that a few asked.. Do our entries from 1/2 on count even if they didn't have Survivor on them?

Sorry i am still getting the hang of this place. Not sure about how to maneuver alot but I really want to participate.

thanks
niyah

Stories are still eligible even if you did not put "SURVIVOR CONTEST" in the notes field because you were not entered in the contest. You may use any story posted prior to your entry and posted on or after 1/2/2004.

You can use any story posted on the Second of January or after, so long as you did not use them in the 2003 Survivor contest for points. You may use any story that is yours and posted under your user account, even if it won one of the monthly contests.

Other Contests

I believe I read something to the effect that if a story is entered into a contest, such as the holiday contest, it is not eligible to be included among my stories in the survivor contest. Is this so?

I got a question and I know I might get beat up for asking it..but how exactly do the immunities work? where do I post what number I want?

Poetry question

I just submitted a poem, but then the question struck me.

Do we enter poems for this contest as poems or as story entries? I ask because, when you submit a poem, there's only a couple of categories...not the full range of categories like there are for stories.

If we submit them normally, do we use the Keyword field to indicate what category out of the full range they should be counted as or the Notes field? Or am I misunderstanding the poetry aspect of the contest entirely?

Poems only count for the Non-Erotic Poetry, Erotic Poetry, Audio Poetry, and Illustrated Poetry categories. They do NOT count towards story categories.

Also, there is a cap of 10 poems per poetry category. You can write more than 10, but they won't count towards points.

Gotcha

Okay, so they have their own set of categories, just like it shows when you submit. I get it now. How erotic is the Erotic Poetry category, anyways? Do pieces full of romance and wistful sentiment about love and loving count for that category?

Yeah, I'm pretty new to submitting...how could you tell? <g><wink>

I would think that would be fine. I think I have seen poems in the erotic category like that. I would think that anything to do with love and loving would fit in the erotic category. Someone else can correct me if I am wrong.

I sure hope not!

I'm gonna wait for the answer and just hope that you read something wrong:)

Do immunities count towards your total categories for the 5,10,20 etc. point bonuses?

Bleh, sorry to double post, but aparently I'm not allowed to edit my own posts.

Anyways, I'd also like an update on when a final decision is made on the rules for non-English and illustrated works. I'm also one of those people stuck on one language and lacking most modern technologies and conviniences. :)

Idiot question number one for me... there will be more

How do we request a specific number for the entire year if we didn't do it when we posted to the other thread?

second (see told ya there would be more)

How are we supposed to figure out WHICH lottery thingie is the one we have to pay attention to, to figure out which number won for the immunity for that week?

Just tell Muffie what number you want and tell her if it is to remain the same for the whole year. If it is, and you want to change it later, just tell her.

The correct lottery thingy will be available on an URL somewhere, and just click on it. It will be Wed. PM, but be sure the one you read is the Wed. one because the Sat. thingy stays there until it is replaced by Wed.

Okay, my turn now.

Which one of these many threads will link the lottery thing for the immunities, and how soon do we need to start paying attention to them?

The actual link to the page that displays the lottery numbers is in the Rules and Registration thread. You can read the thread titled *Immunities* for information on how they will work. Immunities will start next week, I believe.

I believe they start tomorrow, Jan. 14.

This was posted earlier by KM:

Current News:

No one is in the lead yet. Go No One!

No one won any immunities yet either. Pooh.

An immunity thread will be started Wednesday. 1/14/2004 at after the current drawing. You may make your first guesses then! You will have until Midnight 1/27/2004 to use your immunities should you win one.

Immunity threads will be done on a monthly basis rather than weekly. You can still pick a number and run with it, but instead of a new thread every week, it'll be a new thread every month. That should keep things manageable, yet prevent forgetful noodles like myself from shortchanging people by forgetting. I have my phone programmed to cluck at me when I'm s'posed to start one! The immunity thread will have more details on how all of this is supposed to work.

Feel free to rabblerouse and discuss away. Insults are welcome, but in the spirit of good fun, if you please.

Best of luck to you!
