Superstitions

Chey's thread started me thinking about things we do .... just in case.

Do you avoid walking under ladders or stepping on cracks?

What about breaking a mirror?

Do you believe if a bird flies into you home there'll be a death?

My only superstition is that black cats are lucky.

You?

I can't stand it when people put shoes on a table. Freaks me out. That and typical theater superstitions that I follow out of traditional respect.

Break some legs!!

LOL MG....keep trying. There aren't that many options. :D

Eummie....shoes on the table is just plain unhygienic. On the other hand opening an umberella inside is a definite no-no here.

I walk under ladders on purpose... Really

And when birds fly into my home I consider it a blessing!

Stevie Wonder - "Superstition"

Very superstitious, writing's on the wall,
Very superstitious, ladders bout' to fall,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass
Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past.

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way

Very superstitious, wash your face and hands,
Rid me of the problem, do all that you can,
Keep me in a daydream, keep me goin' strong,
You don't wanna save me, sad is my song.

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way, yeh, yeh.

Very superstitious, nothin' more to say,
Very superstitious, the devil's on his way,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass,
Seven years of bad luck, good things in your past

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way, no, no, no

I used to do that just to freak my mom out. Then 2000 hit us like a ton of bricks, and i figure you can't be too careful.

I'm so superstitious its not funny.

I avoid 13 wherever possible, even on the volume adjustment for my stereo or TV.

I dont walk under ladders. As a matter of fact, this week at work there was ladder blocking the only exit to the back room and I climbed up over a stack of tables and such, just to avoid going under it.

I always avoid cracks, I once fell down trying to avoid one. lol I know, I know, i have issues.

I think black cats are very lucky. I have 2. :cathappy: :cathappy:

I'm sure there are others but i cant think of them now. Of course there's always the possibility that I'm not superstitious at all. Maybe I'm just insanely neurotic. ;)

Nah, I don't really think I buy into too many superstitions. I don't follow any "just in case" that i can think of. I don't really believe in "luck" or talismans or anything like that.

Amazingly, I'm still standing. ;)

Smiley, I love that song. Thanks!

Oh.oh oh I just thought of my major superstition.

If I glance at a digital clock - bedside, car, anywhere - and the digits are a run like 2.22 or 1.23 it's a good omen The best ones are 3 the same...... that's lottery-winning stuff!

really? ok *whew* I just thought I was crazy for thinking that. I never admit it to anyone. I also like to see 11:11 for some reason.

i can remember my grandma throwing salt over her shoulder, but i can't remember why!

That's interesting...whenever I glance at a clock, digital or otherwise, it always seems to be 9:11....?

I still remember the first person who pointed that 11:11 thing out to me, when I see it I always think of him...don't know if that is a good thing but I do.

lol.

by the way did you get your name from the 1st book in the Anita Blake series?

actually another superstition of mine is to do things in sets of 3's if possible. Sometimes I even eat candy and other small things in sets of 3. It might not be a superstition though. I've just always liked the number 3 since I was a wee bit.
